Bose audio/Clarion swap questions
Hi, can anyone direct me to existing threads regarding installation of a head unit on a 2004 Z/06? (I guess there are probably many). Installing a Clarion unit, using the aftermarket harness as to not cut up the OEM wiring, and keeping the Bose speakers. Sound quality is not there, missing base, and am told swapping out Bose speakers should not be necessary, and a real PITA also since there are odd sizes. My installer is testing some things tonight, but he has done very few C5 corvettes (at least he's honest).
Thanks. -K

You need to get an adapter that wires into your aftermarket harness. The adapter will provide the correct signals to the Bose amps that power the door subs. It will not work without the adapter. I'll see if I can find a thread about it...
Swapping out the door speakers would require a speaker plate, which is just an adapter of sorts. They're very common (a lot of us on the forum use them), but you won't find them at your typical audio shop. A couple forum vendors sell them, and you can find them on a few web stores that have Corvette-specific products.
