Default Trans fluid options - Not liking Amsoil torque drive

I recently changed out my fluid with the amsoil torque drive product. I'm not happy with how the car is shifting after the fluid change.

What other ATF's are people using? What would the stock ATF be?

Swapped out my trans fluid with mobile one and shifts like butter, way smoother. I like it and would recommend it.

Thanks all, I've done a lot of reading on the topic. Seems like different cars and ATF all react differently. Lots of different experiences out there.

I think I'll try Mobil 1 next and go from there.

I was in the same boat as you - the Amsoil was extremely notchy when cold. I went back to Royal Purple Synchromax. Seems to work fine for both street and track.

Same here, shifts fine. Takes a minute of driving when cold though, first few shifts after it sits overnight are a little sluggish. After a minute of driving its fine though.

Anybody who is running a fluid that meets GM's Synchromesh standards is out of spec for these cars, which explicitly instruct in the manual to use ATF and to NOT USE Synchromesh... I don't know why, but there must be a reason that GM was so specific about this.

GM Fluid or Valvoline DexIII work good.

Agreed. Royal Purple Synchromax is specifically for manual transmissions that use ATF.

Well, I was going to use Mobil 1 as the next fluid. I went to order only to find out they have "all vehicle" ATF for Dexron 3 and 6. I didn't like the sound of that.

I ordered Royal Purple Max ATF. On the bottle, it lists Dexron III as a replacement. In fact it was like Dexron III(g) and (h) or something along those lines. I couldn't find any reference on RP's site that synchromax was Dexron III compatible so I went with the MAX ATF.

I'll get it changed this weekend and let everyone know how it goes.......
This has been a very confusing topic

I run redline d4. works fine, i drive my car anytime its not raining or salty. So it gets driven in the 3x degrees plenty and the trans shifts fine always. Shifts fine on the track after 20 minutes of beatings too. Never had an issue with it.

I'm not familiar with that product, but my comment was directed to the guy above you running Pennzoil Synchromesh, which is absolutely NOT for transmissions like the T56 which are designed to use ATF
