Default Best OEM shock upgrade for lowered '03 C5 Z06?

I'm concerned with ride quality more than anything. C6 Z51? C6 Z06??

For ride quality probably the C6Z06 shocks. For best performance the '04
Z06 shocks are what I went with.

If you have lowered it a lot, you should look at non-OEM.

Mine is lowered all the way on stock bolts. Before I changed the shocks I did have some issues with wheel hop, but no more since I went with the '04 shocks.

The best shocks for both worlds (comfort and racing) are the vikings. I have read nothing but great reviews on them, and some say that they are better than DRM shocks. The best part is that they are pretty affordable as well. I personally run the 04 shocks but to be honest i dont see much different from the original 02s I had in the car.

If you're lowered substantially or "all the way" on the OEM's, you probably find the ride pretty harsh. The shock bodies on the earlier shocks are too long/tall. Once lowered, you usually end up riding on the shock's rubber "bump stops", rather than the suspension.
I'm pretty happy, make that really happy with DRM's. Good setup on his low speed valving/damping gives excellent ride, nice tuning on the rest of the valving stack great suspension control without the usual over damped harshness too many people seem equate with "control".
Mine's an '02, lowered on Zip kit bolts. The front wouldn't even come down all the way on the stock bolts due to shock body length. Probably the reason the Zip kits get mixed or poor results with stock shocks.
Anyway, a vote for DRM's
(and make sure to have it aligned once you set your ride height)

Just ordered DRM's!

Also, don't wantto spend a ton of money, so I ordered prothane front and rear sway bar poly bushings, front and rear control arm poly bushings and added the shock bushings from DRM. I'm getting loud creaking and this "overhaul" should solve that.

Those were tempting, but my car being lowered, as someone said above, OEM may not be the best replacement.

In case you were wondering about the physical length difference between OEM and DRM shocks (being lowered and all, it matters) there are several threads in the autocross and road racing forum where they are measured or compared. Here is one: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t-upgrade.html

Same body, piston, mounting. Different internal valving for compression and rebound.

Whichever shock you go with consider this mod for the rear, of a lowered car. It will help in most cases.
