C5 Haynes and Chilton manuals
For years I wished Haynes or Chilton made manuals for the C5.
Well now it seems they both make them?
Anybody have one? Looks like they cover C5 and C6 1997-2013.

Web search resulted in these; some help, for a few minutes invested.

I picked up the three volume set on Ebay shortly after I bought the car, $150 as I recall. I also have the Haynes -- traditionally my first choice. Could not have been less impressed. That said, I don't find the FSM to be very intuitive either.

Yes - for my previous Vettes I have found them $150-200 for complete used sets. Just have to keep looking.

Check the C5 Parts for Sale Section for factory service manuals for your year car - they come up for sale every now and then. I would definitely get a factory manual over the two you mention.

Back in the day, the ones to have were the old Motors (big blue manual) and Chiltons (big red manuals). But those were simpler times.
I thought I needed the FSM for my C5 so I bought a 3 volume set on ebay for $100 plus shipping. But with the help on CF, I've only had to crack the manuals about 3 times so far.

Agree with Carl. Pretty much everything one needs is here or on YouTube.

Honestly I was somewhat surprised when I initially saw recently that there were both Haynes' and Chilton's manuals. The original FSMs are three volumes and eventually extended to four in some cases. Haynes and Chilton manuals are not that large of a publication so the massive amount of condensing and omissions in the processes it goes through has to be enormous.
I honestly can't see why you want to buy either of them if only 1) to add more Corvette literature to your bookshelf or 2) you don't have access to the internet to spend less time searching for what you need than it would take to flip through one of those manuals.

Haynes is ok for general info. FSM is more detailed and the one(s) to use for serious wrenching.
First two pics are Haynes, last pic from FSM so you can see the difference.

I have the Haynes - its not that great - has pics of other model cars in it - the one I have for my 4runner is better. As with the 4runner - Haynes for "general procedure notes" and FSM for detail. You can get better info here!
