Default Z06 Price too good to be true?

Hi all, I am new to the forum and a potential owner hoping to get some help. I'm looking to buy a Z06 but, from my research, it seems a little too good to be true. It's an 03 Z with 47k miles. Looked to be in decent condition when I test drove it. Did have a k&n intake and magnaflow exhaust.

They were asking 19,700. Dropped it to 19 and just told me they would be willing to go to 18,700. My only concern is the pictures are from summer and its February. So it has been sitting. In fact it needed a jumper box before the test drive. Judging by the research I did on pricing this seems low. Do you all think there could be something to this?

Thanks!

Mike

That price is not particularly low. I am asking $21K for my 2002 with 30K miles. That seems to be in line with recent sales of C5 ZO6s. The fact that it needed to be jumped to start is not significant. Many C5s will discharge their batteries if they sit for a month or more. The fact that it has been sitting for many months might or might not be a problem.

Re price, 18 five is dead on. The rest you need to look at is common sense.

Don't buy it; it's too cheap.

actually priced exactly right if it hasn't been updated. if you have to do the fluids, shocks, valve springs etc it's priced where it should be if it's otherwise clean

For a dealership it's too low but for a private sale it's in line. The C5Zs have dropped the past two years. I sold my 2001 with 45k miles one year ago to the month for $18,500 and it was really clean. I'm buying a 2003 with 15k miles for $20,000 next Tuesday which is a really good deal and I'm stoked to get it! Private party sale too...

Have mechanic that knows C5s inspect it, or (as last resort) request an inspection at a GM dealership at your expense.

It may have an issue that doesn't show on a carfax.... perhaps it has a minor carfax issue like a minor accident that is scaring people away. Little does the carfax say it was just the front fender and the car was driven from the scene... no big deal.

that's not dropped, that's the same as 2012 on the 01

that 03 is a smoking deal if it's clean. like crazy good

i have to wonder why the guy didn't ebay it. a 15k mile 03 will pull at least 20 on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Chevrol...m=122285000835

is one just like what you say that closed for 23k in dec

you're buying that 03 cheaper than a dealer can

Out of curiosity why would it be too low for a dealer? This one is actually at a Chevrolet dealer.

Yeah I bought it and brought it home Tuesday night from Texas. I got it for $20k because the ABS/Traction Control warning is on and it probably needs a new EBCM so I negotiated that into the price. The car is really nice but I did notice when I picked it up that there had been minor damage to front driver's side fender/headlight cover. The repair was a very poor job and I will likely have it repainted. I went ahead and got it anyway because the price was right and I didn't want to rent a car to drive home 5 hours.

totally agree. you're in it 3k under auction and the most likely abs issue is a bad solder which you can repair yourself or send out for $100 + your mirror repaint / repair.

that was a killer buy

probably a decent buy if you check it out.....research the title and take it to have it looked at. Battery running out is common...esp on a vette sitting for a couple weeks or more.

As everyone else said have someone familiar with the corvettes go over the car first. Check for the common issues and make sure history is good on the vin number. If all checks out then it is a solid deal.

If it is close to us then we would be happy to check the car over before you purchase.
