my idea on this is that it allows room to grow...

if somewhere down the line i plan on power adder or more cubes, its done. The long tubes is alot of money, i dont want to buy them twice ever.

Will it hurt the power band?

it will hurt your powerband. you will loose power.... you need to have a good vacuum pressure for headers to work. the rule of thumb is anything under 550 wheel hp should use 1 3/4. anything over 550 - 1000 is 1 7/8 and than there is the 2 x 3 which is insane amount of hp. most people choose 1 7/8 because it gives you room to grow and doesn't loose power down low.

before you buy anything send lg motorsports or any reputable shop an email and tell them where you want to be at when you finish modding your car, always work backwards otherwise it usually ends up $$$$$

Ok, so ill go with 1 7/8th american racing headers instead. Am i missing anything else?

Do all spring kits come with the spring seats? Should i be concerned with the valve stem seals? From what i read the exhaust and intake have different types of seals...?

I'm really itching to pull the trigger, but before I call Texas speed, Id like to know everyone's opinion that has been down this path.

I just figured out now that everyone gets a new timing chain. Do you think with these low miles ill need a new chain and balancer? I mean, if i spend money on a new chain, shouldn't i just get a new double row timing set instead?

I guess spark plugs and wires should also be added to my list... if you guys have any suggestions, please tell me.

Thanks

You will regret scratching that itch unless you make a plan for your build.... for 14k miles you shouldn't touch the timing chain or anything else besides changing the oils, trans oil, differential fluids, clutch fluids. Although you could change the valve springs for peace of mind.

like i said earlier just give texas speed a call or send them and email and they will tell you everything you need to know and what you need to get. texas speed builds some of the best engines... if anyone knows how to build quality engines its texas speed.

Im gonna go with CHE trunion upgrade.. its about 100$ more than comp cams version, but eliminates needle bearings.

This is slowly coming together

i'm surprised no one mentioned BTR cam's i've been true a few cams in my currant c5z and my last one and making the best power with the BTR ls1 stage II 227/234 .614"/.576" 113+2 not a monster cam but makes 475rwhp 415rwtq (on a mustang dyno) as some one said already you should be more concerned with matching parts then using what some one else did hell my cam might be a bad choice for your combo, I made a call and talked to brian him self told him what my car had (was cam'd already) drivablity was hi on the priority list he said i should pick up 25 to 30 rwhp with this cam i got over 40 from just a cam swap re-tune (car was already h/c/i bolt'ons)

my setup is ALL low buck parts compared to what some spend fully bolt'on with PRC 243's ported fast 92mm, ported TB, TSP 1 7/8 with off road pipe & 3.73 gear

car ran 11.21 @ 121mph on a tire probably run a 10 second pass if i launch harder and flat shift it, full weight car no weight reduction

i run the comp trunion upgrade there the same as CHE's no needle bearings

113+2 LSA on my cam not the best cam for nitrous but with a 150 hit i'm making 600rwp 599rwtq

if your 100% installing nitrous down the road you should pick a cam designed for it, when i swapped mine i didnt have intentions of nitrous but few of the guys i hang out with came up with some bad a$$ cars (c7z, built gt500, built cts-V) left me in the dust so now i only see headlights

Good Choice.
We stock and install alot of the CHE bearing kits.
We have been using them for years with great results.

We have installed a few. Its a big cam for a car used on the street much.

I appreciate your info, if I was in your area Id probably swing buy. I'm actually in Montreal, Canada...I'm pretty much stuck doing the upgrades myself.

Im reading the halltech killer bee 2 isnt plug and play as it uses C6 maf... That seems to be a problem as it states that if the parameters arent calibrated, car wont even star.

I need to drive to my Dyno shop as they are pretty far...I guess my option is to have the stock airbox on with the rest of the mods and drive it untuned to the shop??

Another option would be to have your tuner put the car into sd mode by failing the maf which can be done really anytime then when you return with the new maf hardware installed 1 week or 1 year later they can get it all tuned and turn it back on. Another option is you could buy a tuner(hp tuners) and learn to do that yourself or enter the basic maf transfer table for the new maf before they dyno tune. Most shops charge a license fee for a custom tune anyway so getting your own tuner can sometimes save that fee since they can use your tuner when they do the work.

There's no need for 2 inch headers, your heads don't even flow enough to put any strain on 1 3/4's primaries,]

1-3/4 can carry a lot of power.

OP choose the right parts for your combo you have now, otherwise you end up compromising, whos to say in a year your plans wont change?

this is what I'm going with...only thing im unsure of is the halltech killer bee 2 or the blackwing intake..

Its not really a matter of money, more on how difficult it will be for me to get the killer bee working..

Should be simple for any tuner to get it working since they have to tune the maf table regardless with those overall set of changes but you may need to install that cai and maf at their shop or have the car put into sd mode prior so you can drive there with it installed. Unless you have near plans to go boost then I would get the kb2 and get the benefits of having a new tech maf and get it all tuned at once.

its done, i pulled the trigger on all above parts and also added a GM LS2 timing chain and a Romac 25% under drive pulley with belts. Also added CHE's truinion upgrade. It's not listed on TSP's web site, but Doyle, the rep I spoke to on CHE told me they sell it...forget about comp's upgrade...why exchange needles for needles!

Thanks everyone and will post up pictures once goods get from Texas all the way up here in Canada !
