Another Tire thread, help me decide what direction to go..
Ok, so when I purchased my car I knew I wanted a set of drag radials so I purchased an extra set of rear OEM rims and Mickey ET streets in 305/35/18. My plan at the time was to only run those the few times a year I went to the track. Once I drove the car with them on, I never took them off. It was so nice having usable traction on the street. Obviously these tires don't last very long and I am in need of yet again another set. That being said, I have owned my car for at least 8 years and have never changed the street tires it came with and even though the have plenty of tread left, they have to be due for replacement. Street tires are Firestone WideOvals and as far as I am concerned they are a terrible tire. So right now my options are...buy another set of Mickey Drag radials for the rear and run the fronts another year. Buy new fronts, thinking Nitto or Toyo and new Drag Radials. Buy all four in a excellent street tire, Nitto Toyo or maybe Continental and skip the drag radials and hope that new rear tires will give me at least reasonable traction on the street. Or I was thinking last night, I could buy 4 new tires, Run 18's on all four corners and buy a set of 17" drag slicks for the few times a year I go to the track. Decisions Decisions....I guess I am looking for input on how a decent street tire will hook on the street. What people think of running a square setup with 18's all around and will it look funny. Input on how a 17" drag slick will work in the rear at the track compared to a 18" drag radial. Car is headers, catless x pipe, cutouts, variram, tuned, with 4:10 gear. LS7 clutch, Aluminum Flywheel, Tick master. Rearend has been built using C6 Z shafts...Thanks for any input....

Other than gears you have the same mods as me. I'm very happy with NT05's for the street, grip and handle very well under 'spirited' driving. They now offer the NT05 in a 140 treadware as well. Not a full on DR but more grip than the regular 200TW tires. I'm going with that one when I replace my 295's next. I run the stock wheels, 275's up front. I know some guys run 18's squared on the street but I can't imagine doing that. 275's follow grooves in the road bad enough, 295 or 305's up front has to be even worse, plus I prefer the staggered look.

I'm also currently on the fence as far as street tire replacement.
I have an extra pair of stock rear rims to go 18's front and rear if I decide to go that route.
If I go 18 front and back I'm looking at the new Continental Extremecontact Sport. Rears, 295/35/18. Fronts 275/35/18.
If I go factory stock 17 front and 18 rear rims, I'm looking at the Toyo T1's .
Stock sizes. Rears, 295/35/18. Fronts 265/40/17.
I'm currently running Nitto 555R II's (They're discontinued)
Rear 305/35/18. Front 275/40/17. They were a GREAT tire that really hooked up for me.
I'm looking at doing more long distance trips so I'm leaning towards a better rain tire.
Good luck with your choice.

Just noticed it only shows 1 in stock, that won't help much lol. Maybe Nitto hasn't gotten them out to distributers yet. I won't need new rears for a year or so but I would go with these if they were available. Maybe email nitto and check on the availability of these.
