Your way over thinking this .just get an agm battery. The Amazon delco I noted above is just fine.
I have an 02Z and a 99. The 99 has a wet battery the o2 agm. When the wet battery craps out I'll buy a agm. Simple decision

QUOTE=bmarcinczyk14;1594753301]I'll ask again, will this one work for my 02 z06? According to advance it doesn't fit my car but I know some bigger sizes will work.

Thing is I just bought the advance gold battery yesterday which isn't an agm. Is it worth trying to get it exchanged for an agm or should I be fine?

Over thinking this. Your Advance Gold battery will serve you well.

So ur saying I don't have to worry about the infamous acid leak issue with the battery?

I have some people telling me the Advance gold I just purchased will be fine and others saying I should exchange it right away with an AGM. Which is it? And again, will this size work with my 2002 Z06 if I do decide to exchange it?

Don't misread what I said as telling you to get rid of what you have. I am still running the non-AGM Napa battery that was in my car when I bought it in January. Run what you have. If you're nervous about it then get yourself one of those absorbent pads. You're putting way too much thought into this.

Regarding whether the other battery will fit? I don't know. Look up it's dimensions. Compare those dimensions to your battery tray and give it a shot. I doubt you're going to find anybody else who is running a specific generic battery from one of the parts houses who happens to read this.

If your current battery is mounted solidly and your battery cables are tight, get out there and drive the car!

What car do you have? As far as whether the battery will fit, if the 2001-2003 c5's have the same size battery tray and clearance in the area as the pre 2001 c5's it should fit no problem since that 78 series is what the pre 2001 vettes used. For some reason GM decided to use a smaller 75 series battery from 2001 and on.

I have a 2002 Z06 (Torch Red) with 11k miles on it. There are lots of mentions on here about using the larger Optima versus the "recommended" Optima and the consensus is that the larger one works just fine.

Nice, exact same year and color as mine. Damn and I thought my 28k miles were low! Have you checked if there were any signs of your non-agm battery leaking? Do you know how old the battery is?

I have looked at my battery a number of times and have seen no evidence of leakage. Nobody removed the circular month/year stickers on the battery when it was installed so I don't know how old it is unfortunately. I have the Optima in my cart on Amazon but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Have the valve springs on your car been replaced yet?

What's wrong with the valve springs? I know that was a weak point on the c6 z06's but never heard of them being an issue on the c5 z's

Think I'm just gonna stay with the conventional lead battery I just got. Chances of it leaking are pretty slim with the newer ones, from my understanding the issue mainly lies with the original own a.c. delcos

Lots of reading here.

I did mine before I took it to any races just to be safe.

After just briefly skimming over that it looks like my car isn't in the "danger zone" area, it's an early 2002 model. Was yours in the "danger zone"?

My car was built early 2002. It had the yellow valve springs. That was more than enough reason for me to replace them. I don't want to be nervous every time I drive it that I might drop a valve.

So yellow spings=bad? What's the last 5 of your VIN? Mine is 05359. I believe built either August or September 2001. Would mine have the yellow springs?

Only way to know for sure is to look at them. You MIGHT be able to see if you shine a light into your oil fill, but you may need to pull a valve cover if that doesn't work.

Do you recall the specific month and year your car was built? I'll try at that and see if I can see my springs.
