Yeah but it depends which exhaust you have on them. Mine came with Flowmaster Outlaws and they were way too loud with a horrible drone on the highway. I went to Magnaflows which were only loud at WOT. I would have preferred Corsas but I found an incredible sale on the Magnaflows.

You aren't. I've only heard one out of maybe 10 that I thought sounded pretty good. The regular 5.0 sounds better, even a 2 valve 4.6 sounds better.

Interestingly the GT350R BARELY lost to the ZL1 at Willow Springs on Motor Trend. Shows the GT350R has a definite bit of savvy to make up for a horsepower deficit. ZL1 1LE will certainly be a different story, and likely more "apples to apples" but when turns are involved, GT350R can certainly hang with a high power car if the driver is capable.

Most here, I assume, are talking about straight line which is fairly irrelevant to this car as it wasn't built for that. Seems quick enough to wreck coming out of cars and coffee like all the others.

The gt350 is a disappointment imo. The crank is u-d-u-d configuration requiring large counter balances at the ends, mitigating the pros of a lighter cranks. To top it off they used one intake manifold mitigating the pros again of having a flat plane crank by using a separate manifold for each cylinder bank. The voodoo has a high rpm due to a great top end and cnc'd heads. Nothing to do with the flat plane. The voodoo also doesn't very large increases in power. The flat plane does sound very unique and interersting so ill give it that.

The cars performance is also lackluster. A c5z with equal tires will keep up. Full exhaust and intake would edge out the 350. T1 or coil overs and even the 350r would be no contest.

I hear ya... I had an '86 GT, and '01 GT, and an '05 GT... all 'verts. Loved the '86 the most (and currently looking at another), but my '04 Z06 is a completely different animal.

I have to respectfully disagree with you. I think the heavier GT350 still takes the modded C5Z on a road course. It was simply built for that purpose and is a superbly balanced car. I own a 2003 C5Z but would trade in a heartbeat for a GT350 if someone offered. I've never heard a Corvette sound as good as any Mustang with a decent exhaust...5.0 pushrod, 4.6 dual cam, 4.6 quad cam, 5.0 quad cam, or the GT350.

I drove one last year at a Ford event at AMP for 3 laps with a Ford Racing school instructor. It was quick but they made us stick it in 3rd and leave it (lame). It sounds amazing and handles its weight quite well (something around 3800lbs :O ). Can't afford it but even if I could it wouldn't push my 02 Z06 out of the garage.

I have a GT350 and this car is a beast on a road course. It is not a straight line performer and that's not what it was built for. Taking the car all the way up to the 8250 rpm redline, braking hard - the brakes are fantastic, turning into a corner at a much higher speed than you thought possible, and flying out of the corner with the car planted and ready for the next one is what this car is about.

I had a H/C/I C5Z and a C6Z and this car is a different animal. It's not as fast in a straight line but I believe it would out perform either of my Z06's on a road course. All are great cars and it's an awesome time to be a car guy!

I also giggle like a child every time I drive this car. It's a smiles per miles car for sure!

A stock C5 Z vs 350R the 350 would win no problem I think. I mean the 350R barely lost to a ZL1 at Buttonwillow and I don't think a stock C5 Z would be anywhere near a Zl1. The C5 brakes just aren't up to the task on larger road courses. Mod the C5 enough then sure, but that's not exactly apples to apples versus a stock street car.

To me it's hilarious how people rave about the GT350, yet half those people also prefer the new M3/M4 to the older V8 M3 because it makes easier to use power.

I guess I just feel like most of the people think it's so special just because they were told that it was so special. There isn't anything revolutionary about the car, it's wicked fast, and cool, but it isn't anything that hasn't been done before.

A high revving N/A V8 is soooooooo revolutionary. GM has done it with the LS6 and LS7 (though less RPM) BMW has done it, ferrari and lamborghini have done it, lotus has done it, lexus has done it, audi has done it. Hell, even ford themselves have made a few high RPM v8's such as the SHO 3.4 where people have reported spinning them up to 7700-8000 rpms before.

The flat plane crank has been done before, it's nothing new.

I'm a huge fan of NA power, and I quite like the GT350, but it's by no means revolutionary.
