Default Anyone put the new 4 piece Blockit Sound Deadener in your C5 Z06

The new 4 piece Blockit sound deadener for the Z06 sounds promising, looking specifically for reviews and any photos of the fit in the C5 Z06 before I spend the money.

Have you thought about using this instead:

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Peel-Seal-I...ashing/1018733

or http://www.homedepot.com/p/E-O-12-in...V516/100028603

Much less expensive. Read the reviews; many people use them for cars to quiet down the cabin.

When I swapped out my shifter for an MGW unit I opted for extra sound deadening (its just dynamat) & then went a little further bought extra @ the time & essentially my whole center tunnel area is covered.

The drop in temps/noise was so dramatic from just that one section (my right leg no longer got roasted, couldn't hear the mechanics of the shifter/tranny/troque tube much & no longer heard pebbles pinging underneath) that when I saved up enough $$$ to get a new audio system that I had the installer also dynamat the doors & the trunk.

Added probably 40 lbs in total to the car but between that & the tray/partition my car is noticeably quieter AND more important to me - COOLER.

I only mention because while not cheap, it is less than the kit you mention & I believe does a better job mitigating heat as well as noise + you can cut it up & stick it nearly anyplace.

I ordered a rear portion and insulation kit from Vettenuts. The partition alone cut down on a lot of noise. I haven't gotten the insulation kit yet but I am sure it will only help with both heat and noise blocking.

thx.
I'll have some photos soon.

However here are some posts from C5, C6 & C7 if it helps.
(Sorry its long, but that's kind of a good thing)

The mat looks very polished in the rear cargo area so I don't think that I will add an aftermarket cargo mat on top of it.

While commuting to work this morning on the freeway I really did notice a difference. I did not have to crank the radio way up and the voices and music were much clearer.

If you are looking for a real easy sound insulation solution I would recommend this product.

First drive to work this morning and I can tell you it makes a big difference. Those that say it doesn't must have some really frickn' loud exhausts.
It took the resonance away that the road puts through the rear hatch area (hatch floor, plastic) and the road noise from the tires is probably cut in half.
There's also a noticeable "quietness" inside the rear now that I never had before. I always had that "white noise" behind my head from all the noises coming from the rear hatch area. Now it sounds like the entire car is quieter.
It made such a difference I am no longer worried about putting dynamat or peel and seal in my car. I will however still do the peel and seal on the floor boards under the car because now that the rear is so much quiter I hear road noise from under the car... lol.

Overall, it's a great buy and I'm glad I bought mine!!

Not the kind that requires you to remove the carpet or anything. Just put two pads behind the seats and one pad in you truck, or cargo area for a coupe. I drove my car at 70+ MPH for a good ways last night and WOW!!! Much smoother and peacefull sound. The stereo sounded better and the car just seems so much quieter in the cab area. I have had a C6 coupe and now have a C6 vert, and I promise you, this thing works! Just wanted to shout out a nice mod.

Even with flaps closed, the drone was very annoying below 1,950. Most of my cruising is between 1,700 and 1,950 rpms in 6th gear with 4.10 gears. With the blockit installed, the drone is gone at these rpms with flaps closed. Not just reduced, but gone. Below 1,700 drone is reduced to a bearable level.

With muffler flaps open the drone is reduced with the kit, but still louder than my comfort level. But it's a moot point now.

As it turns out there is no need to do so because the noise reduction is truly dramatic. This kit is a "must have" for all but deaf C7 owners. I had a '14 Z51 which had hellacious tire noise. I was exhausted after driving it for 3-4 hours. The '15 Z06 was significantly quieter and rides more smoothly....think Chevy vehicle engineers softened the suspension bushings. Seems to be well known that the '15 is a quieter car. Just can't believe how such a relatively inexpensive and easily installed kit can be so effective. I could now drive the car across country....yes, it's that good.

So bottom line: I'd recommend(your hearing my vary) .
I can't say it's equal to the kits that require full interior dis-assembly since I didn't do that, but I definitely feel there is value in the product. If you are in Southern Calif and want to try in your car, come by and we'll throw it in and you can hear for yourself. Or just take my car for a test drive.

Great product. Can't wait to do a more extensive test in the spring, but initially this seems to be a great product !!

Many thanks,

Super easy install - drop in and forget it. I have a coupe.
Big rear mat had the slits for rings.
Put my Stingray logo rear carpet on top of the mat and also put the mats behind the seats.
I can tell a difference in noise ; can hear the radio better and believe a long cruise will be far more pleasant.

I did notice the action of the Bose audio pilot (auto volume compensation) is much more noticeable now and I turned it off.

Every night when I leave work I put my laptop bag in the trunk and I think hope the heat doesn't kill this thing. Well since the block it install the trunk with the top up or down seems much cooler. Well worth the price of admission lol.

Sorry for the long post. But in the very beginning I mentioned that will have them soon. I'm working on it.

The back piece is basically the same shape and size of the Lloyds mat.

I have a tray and partition. Will your 4 piece Blockit Kit work on my Z06 or would it need to be cut?

Can you describe the rear fit, does if completely cover rear two outside storage areas?
Does the mat angle down and cover the center angled department or does the mat cover the complete rear compartment including all three drop down storage areas?

I don't know what partition you have. So I can't say for sure.
However in the past, others have used both the Blockit with trays and or partitions. Even though the Blockit is 1"thick, it condenses down to approx. 1/4".

Good question. It does not go over/cover the 2 "cubby holes". It leaves access to those compartments.
Nor does it go over and cover the large angled indent in your trunk.
However it comes with an optional, additional separate piece that lays in there on & against the slanted area.

I installed the 4 piece block It on Saturday. I have a partition and tray from Southern Car Parts, the partition is a tight fit. Partition would not fit on top of mat. Cut the mat and put remainder under tray. Installed the 2 pieces behind the seats under the factory carpet.

Car has long tubes and Borla Stinger over axle exhaust. Went for a drive and tire/road noises seems to be reduced. Had somewhat of a Exhaust drone in 6th gear at 70 MPH prior to installing the mat and that seems reduced also.

Thx for the info, would you mind snapping a couple of photos of the install.
I have z06 and was trying to decide if I should buy the block it model for a standard C5 to get full coverage over all three rear drop down compartments for better sound insulation.

Thx.
Not sure about the difference in rear section of a coupe C5 and Z06, but will the Block it for the standard coupe C5 cover the entire rear section (including drop down compartments)of a Z06?

I don't store much in the drop down cargo so I'm trying to maximize the sound deadening.
I thought I may have read at one time, the convertible cargo area is similar to the Z06?

I installed the Vettenuts pre-cut insulation kit in my Z06 and along with a rear partition it really cut down on the interior noise big time. I can now clearly hear the radio while cruising and it is much more comfortable. The kit I installed was not the deluxe which has an extra layer of insulation.

It takes some work and about a day to install the insulation but it doesn't add but maybe 3 lbs of weight and will help a lot with heat coming from the tunnel.

It takes some work and about a day to install the insulation but it doesn't add but maybe 3 lbs of weight and will help a lot with heat coming from the tunnel.
I believe the op is looking for a quick solution (60 seconds) as opposed to hours and ripping out his interior. The Blockit lays right on top of your existing carpet. Just toss it in.

However, if he is interested in possibly laying something under the carpet, we are releasing (1st week in August) 3 new items that have incredible deadening/damping characteristics. Crushes noise. One will even have a true heat barrier if needed.

If you want to only do the rear of the car with our Premium Kit it only takes about 45 minutes to install the rear section. order the full kit for only $365 and do the front section when you have time.

The nice part of our kit is you do not add any thickness to the cargo area where it looks out of place. Also it covers the wheel wells and the rear bumper wall and all of the storage compartments.
