Default 04 Z06 Sticky Pedal with High RPM Shifts

This was a hot topic on the Forum some time ago...Impacted both C5 and C6's . Some thoughts that corrected issue.... keeping Clutch Fluid Clean (Ranger Method), also Lingenfelter clutch pedal spring kit..... However, comments on both say it did not correct the problem. Was their ever truly a root cause to the issue and definitive fix? Is the only way to correct is to got to a New Clutch... and if yes, what is the best aftermarket clutch , also some say to go with a C7 set up? Thoughts???

When mind stuck (once) the problem was the pressure plate weight/arms (stock 01 clutch) were fatiguing and braking off so that the return of the pressure plate springs were blocked by the loose parts. This is not everyones problem.

Seems like this issue could have many rootcauses...almost seems like replacing the clutch and all relating components us only way to assure its fixed.

Or do the easiest 1st ( like master cylinder) before removing drivetrain for Clutch, etc?

Ridiculous a performance car not designed for high rpm shifting!

I agree, start with the master cylinder and go from there.

I used the "ranger" method and now have clean clutch fluid...took a drivevand did several >6k shifts...did not have any issues....however i usually power shift at red line quite a bit...so issue may still exist....maybe i should drive less like the roads a race track...lol....time will tell on next course of action.

You are lucky the flush worked for you. I had this same issue last summer and after doing the flush several times and replacing the master cylinder I ended up replacing the clutch which fixed it. Big job but doable by the DIY if you have the time and tools.

I had this issue. After a couple of redline shifts the clutch would stick to the floor. From my research I figured it was the slave cylinder. GM updated the slave cylinder to a new style for the factory replacement. When I had my transmission out I put a new slave cylinder and clutch in and the issue is completely gone.

I thought the 04's came from the factory with the new upgraded slave cylinder?

The transmission shop doing the work called their GM supplier and they said the part was updated in 2012 I believe. My original clutch had 50% life left they said with nothing wrong. I replaced it anyways because it was out. With a new clutch and slave cylinder the sticky pedal went away. Before if I shifted at redline in 4th I had trouble getting it into 5th where now it goes in smooth. Before doing the new clutch, I had done the ranger method and replaced a lot of the clutch fluid. That didn't make any difference for me.

Tick master was the only thing that fixed my car. New clutch didn't do it, new GM master and slave didn't do it, and don't even waste your time with the "Ranger method". I tried bleeding properly and clean fluid wasn't enough.
