Default Ticking C5 Z06 Engine Noise

Thought had exhaust leak but found that something in motor is ticking. It does make same sound as if you got an exhaust leak. Ticks while idling and when throttle applied. Once above 4th gear don't really hear it to much unless press clutch and rev motor. Could it be injector or lifter? It's not knocking or making hard metal on metal contact. Advise please?

Drain some oil and see if you have metals in the oil. It will look like a faint metallic paint.

But it sounds like the lifters are going out. Need to stop driving it ASAP!

More than likely it is the lifters and this is quite normal. LS1 lifters are notorious for making ticking sounds. It can be quite worrying but there is usually nothing wrong.

My car does the exact same thing. Just be aware that if you have long tube headers now or put some on in the future, this ticking sound will be louder.

fwiw, it will be getting an entire valvetrain rebuild, but only because I'm adding cam and other goodies this winter.
