99 C5 Hatch, and 01 Z06 Coupe, gauge differences question.
So I've got an '01 Z, and my younger brother has an early '99 C5 Hatch. One thing I noticed when I test drove the car before he bought his months ago was that the font on the gauges were really blocky compared to my '01s more italicized font on the gauges. I had up to that point only seen my gauge font, and before that the font in an LS2 C6 which was very similar in style. So I assumed that 97-00 C5's had that blocky older style font, and that all 01+ models got new gauges(along with that checkered background, and just figured that only Z06 models got the small Z06 emblem in the gauges).
So out of boredom I was just looking to confirm it online, but I can't seem to find any 01-04 C5 hatch models with the checkered/italicized font gauges.
So my question is were all non-Z06 97-04(obviously 01-04 really) C5 Corvettes coming with those older style blocky fonts?
I believe the Z06 gauges are the only ones that are in italics. This wasn't intentional, its just that since the Z06 is so fast the numbers on the gauges get blown back a bit.
Well I'll be damned. I always thought the Z06's gauges were standard styling after 01 all across the styles. Guess it makes sense that they also went with that styling more for the C6 models as standard now.
