I've got an '01 so was not concerned about the valve spring problem as the model year lies outside of the heavy failure rate. But I track my car and a fellow track member running an identical Z06 to mine recently experienced spring failure. He was lucky he didn't loose his engine. So I had my mechanic order a kit, it will be installed this week.

As c5z's are now 15+ years old it's not a matter of if your car was affected by a bad batch of springs. At 15+ years valve springs become a wear item on any car, but especially on a performance car. I replaced mine when I got mine 5 years ago and my car didn't even fall under the 'bad batch' date range. Just preventative maintenance imo.

Yep, I refreshing the springs as well as seals etc.
When I purchased the vehicle I replaced all lubricants, including the tranny and dif. I recently had a bleeder valve installed for the clutch fluid line. A lot of black fluid came out.

Someone suggested a new cam, I was told it's a big deal to do that, have to pull the engine?

Same here. Build date of April 2002. Just wanted peace of mind when driving.

Just got a 33,000 mile 03 z (december 02 build date) decided to swap springs to the new blue style. One stocker had already failed. Got lucky it failed near the top and wasn't catastrophic.
