Default My first 2002 C5 Z06 :)

Well guys I have been reading this forum for about three years and finally decided to create my account when I purchased my 2002 Z06. I have been very picky until recently I found my dream car. Red, 60K miles, clean...When i says clean the leather looks brand new, no scuffs scratches look and smells new. I looked at probably more than 7 c5's and this by far was the cleanest. I found this at the Honda Dealer the first day. They wanted 18,000 i haggled my way down to a low 15K with the Current KBB value and quite honestly they had no idea about the car and wanted it gone. Chevy had already done an inspection saying the car was in excellent condition, clutch etc. The car fax records and maintenance all checked out good.

Im a Car novice meaning I can change my oil, tires, etc but as far as advanced knowledge I can't say I have that. That being said I competition raced go carts from 6-14 so I can drive well. This is still a whole different ball game. I work at a us based airline carrier as a pilot. Upgrading to captain, so this was my present. I have drove 996 turbos, m3s and I have never felt this kind of power. The exhaust sounds so mean that I have had people ask what it's running, or say that can't be stock. I had a new 5.0 pull up next to me and say that thing sounds scary dude. The pulls are insane! More insane the the 996 with a reflash. Do you guys think it could be running anything else ? I plan on finding out here in the next week. I will also post pics tomorrow..

Congrats. Has aftermarket exhaust, so may have other mods. Does it have headers?

Honestly I have to find out, I'm no car expert but I made sure this thing was clean. Honda was selling this, so that's why I had the good price. They actually had just got it that morning.

i'm going to find out what exhaust this is, I'm thinking it could be a cat back based on the sound

Nice, another pull-me-over red. Cheers dude.

Those tips look like the magnaflow magnapack (#15763) or the legend BILLY BOAT. From the way you describe it could be one of those.

I think I got it under KBB value by a few. You're right, still a great price

check the update threads. around 1000 dollars worth of stuff a person should do if the car has an unknown history. valve springs. all fluids, hoses if they have any cracks, basically a full inspection and update what needs updating.

do research the valve spring issue the 02 car had. it's a 65 dollar kit from GM for a new set. the ones used in 02 had a problem with impure metal which led to fractures in maybe .5 to 1% of cars. if one breaks it can take out an engine. it's low cost insurance

you paid a bit under going rate provided the car doesn't have any major issues. price to mileage you paid less than 99% of forum members

Glad to hear you're enjoying the car already! Take some under-hood photos and post those too, you may have all kinds of goodies added on.
