Default Tires ?

Looking at buying a c5 z06 ? However i'm not seeing alot of tire choices.

What are you guys doing with the stock speedline wheels ?

Goodyear eagle f1 is the only available choice via tirerack ? I had those tires on a previous mustang. Absolute junk in the rain ! Will never buy those again lol

are you looking in stock sizes? I have 305/35/18 out back and am looking to do some 275/40/17 the next time I buy some fronts.

There is not much choice in stock sizes. However, I just put on a set of Toyo Proxes T1 Sport in stock sizes. So far, I'm very happy with them.

I am Hankook Ventus V12's on 19" rims and really like them. They are priced right too!

The latest and greatest, Continental Extreme Contact Sports! 275/40 front and 295/35 rear.

Kevin,
You can increase your options by bumping up your front tires to 275/40's from the OEM 265/40 size. The slightly bigger tire will work just fine. Good luck!

For those of you like me that have been using Conti Extreme DW's, well that party is over. Conti has (as of a year ago) stop production of the 295/35/18. Oh Well...

That's why they have the Extreme Contact Sports now. Their new tire is much better than the old DW and easily as good if not better than the Michelins for alot less $.

My 2001 zo6 stock tires are 265 40 17 with 295 35 18's in the rear. I can only find goodyears and Michelins in those sizes. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Not too many choices for the original 265/40 front tire, so most people either go smaller 255/40 or bigger 275/40. I have the 275/40 on the front which actually fits the rim better than the smaller 255 or 265. The new Continental Extreme Contact Sports are a great tire!

All Z tires are the same... pretty sure as noted above that the Toyo Proxes T1 comes in stock Z sizes.

Thanks for the help all. I think that when the times comes i will go with a bigger rear tire and a slightly bigger front tire. 315 is the biggest on the rear ? How does it handle the turns with say a 315 on the rear and 275 on the front?

I remember hearing about a guy that ran a square setup on his fbody - 315 all around. It was one of the quicker cars out at the local autocross. This hold true for the c5z ? Sorry if this been answered already (i did search).

I looked at them, and they do look good on spec, but I'm Old, and have own the car since new, so I made a practical choice. DWS06's all seasons, we have been using them on our Audi S4 and have been very happy with control, wear, and as we live in snow country (white/wet stuff traction). There have been times when I have taken the Z and had a light snow fall. Alway made it home, but all seasons will add a bit of security.
