Square Set up questions.
Hey guys, I have the stock OEM Speedlines on stock sizes but looking at moving up to the square set up this spring (in canada so it's parked for winter).
I have some wanted ads in the local kijiji (craigslist of canada) but haven't got any bites. Any recommendations on where I can get a pair of the rear 18" speed lines? House of wheels got back to me with some descent prices. I would have the 17" to sell if I got these.
Also what tire sizes are people going to for these? 305/35/18 rear and 275/40/18 front?
Your help is very much appreciated!
thanks.

Depending where you are I think Craigslist won't land you any results. Keep your eyes peeled, and fingers ready to pounce on the FS section here. Then hope the seller is somewhat local and/or willing to ship to Canada.
Good luck with selling the 17's, might be tough in Canada also. Try the FS section also.
To maintain the spread for AH, I'd go 305 35 18 and 275 35 18 if/when I make the same change (in my maybe plans also, Kelowna BC Canada).

I'm confused. You mention going for a square setup, then talk about going with the OEM staggered tire sizes.
A square setup would be the 305/30/18 on all 4 corners with the 10.5 wheel. No point in swapping wheels when using same size tires...

Sorry, I meant square set up with all four 18" rims on the car. So I guess tha'ts not a square set up per say.

You're going through the process of selling your front wheels for larger, more expensive rear wheels, just to put the same size tires back on them. There's no benefit, and you're stretching the front tire a bit to get it to fit on the wider wheel. I'm missing the logic on this.

Why would you want to do that?

Nothing more to it or to read into it.

You're doing it for looks only, and don't care about stretching the front tire. Got it.

Getting back to you PeppyheadVette again, I have CCW’s on the front of mine with 275-35-18 on a 10 inch wheel and it looks and fits good. I don’t see OEM wheel 10.5 make much difference on the 275’s. When I asked this question awhile back and still thinking about doing it with 18’s all around. I just don’t want to take a chance with issues with 295’s all around. I have brand new rears I got from house of wheels. And thinking about getting 2 more. My hold is I don’t know if I want to sell my CCW’s and do this. That is why I was hoping to see some pics with 275-35-18 and 295-35-18. I like the bigger wheel in the front also.

It's a very common mod. Grab 2 rears, mount some tires. Nice light wheels, not too costly, looks great, should also give a slightly better steering feel. Yes it is a slightly wide wheel for a 275.

Yeah I agree, I think it looks better with it being wider at the rear, but tires and the availability is another story.
thanks for the input!

for true square setup, 315, 30 18 will fit nicely all around, you may need to go with 1/4" spacers in the rear, depends on the car and tire brand. 305 would likely be fine with no spacers.

Yes they are. They look awesome. Same as factory. Bob was great to deal with. And the nice thing with them being brand new you can get them balanced without weights on the outside. They leave scratches and marks.

I purchased 4x 18x10.5 wheels from Bob at House of Wheels also earlier this year. Received them well packaged in flawless condition at a great price. I checked the stamp on the inside of each, and they are definitely 100% new OEM wheels. You can't go wrong with them, and I intend to order another set for the track car to use as street/rain tires.
