Leaking axle seal on 2004, tricities TN
Tried doing a forum search and got zip. So ... I recently noticed a small puddle on the garage floor where my C5 sits, about where the right side of the differential would be. Took the car to the shop that handles my fluid changes and they said it was down about 1/4 of a pint and looks like it's the right side axle seal. I'd noticed a burned oil smell when I would stop, especially in the garage and figured something was leaking onto the exhaust pipes. Am I going to need to be sitting down when I find out what it's going to cost to fix this ? Last time I needed a new differential it was over 30 years ago on a C3 and I did it in my garage. But I don't feel like tackling this one with hand tools. Anyone know who I can trust to work on it in the Kingsport TN area ? Much obliged for any advice or help with finding someone both competent and trustworthy to work on a C5 as well as clues on how major this is to take apart and put back together.

It's really not that hard of a job to replace the output shaft seal.
Probably the most pain in the a$$ part is seating the seal properly.
When i did mine i purchased the tool needed not wanting to take a chance and use the hammer / block of wood tool to seat the seal .
