Default 2002 C5 z06. Needs new tires

what tires should I put on it. There is a ton of discussion on the topic but I’m having trouble figuring out what I should put on it. I want to keep the stock wheels and I would prefer to buy Nitto tires. Since the standard size is not available, What tire size is recommended?

I have no experience with the Nittos, but I can tell you the Continental Extreme Contact Sports are great tires and what I'm currently running on my 02Z using factory rims. 275/40-17 front & 295/35-18 rear.

I just put a set of Toyo Proxes T1 Sport on my 02 Z in the stock sizes. So far I really like them a lot and the price is great also. Purchased the from Jegs. Right at $700 for the set.

Several good reviews of them online.

I’ve been running the NT-05’s in 275/295 for five years now. Fantastic 3 season tires imo. Would not drive on them in the winter, and not the greatest in the rain but they do ok as long as you take it easy with them. Fantastic dry weather tire, great street/strip/track tires for the money. They don’t wear real well though but that’s to be expected with a 200 treadware tire.

I drive it for fun. Once in a while to work and might hit the track if the opportunity comes up. It will never see rain or snow.

I’m not almost done my second set of NT05’s. Not a Bad tire for the price, but dated and WAY behind the 200tw tire game. My next tire come spring will be the 255/40/17, 285/35/18 hankook rs4. I believe this may be the fastest 200tw tire that fits the 17/18” c5z currently. The hankooks run wide, the nittos run narrow so there really isn’t a width difference between the two. The fastest tire doesn’t appeal to everyone, I drive my Z hard and I want the best street tire available.

I went with the NT05 this past spring - 255 up front and the 140 treadwear 295's out back. I am happy - lots of grip for dry weather.

I was told by WCC to go with: 255/40R17 &285/35R18I would prefer to keep the larger 295/35 in the rear. I will not have any issues with TC or ABS?

Why no love for the OEM Good Years? Are they considered a sub-standard choice for tire replacement?

Are you planning on staying with the stock rims?

Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport comes in factory spec sizes. Anyone have any experience with these? I think they offer a lower price alternative to Michelins.

From everything I've read there are better tires for less money. I have them as the PO had some installed, but they are costly.

My opinion might be tainted because I have a second set of wheels for autox and HPDE duty.

As far as a DD tire goes the RE760s are fine. The traction at low temperatures is bad (let's say <50f) but I've done a HPDE on them and they performed admirably. Rain driving was a joke but that's no different on my RE-71Rs.

If they were my only tire I might go for something better. but when it comes to stock wheels and sizes they seem like a pretty good option.

IMO, the worst choice of tires for the Vette is the Goodyears. When I had them as original equipment, I thought they were the worst tires I ever had. When they were standard issue GM had a contract for the GY's to be OEM tires. Once they started using Michelins, they became the OEM Corvette tire. I have had both Michelins and Continentals on my car and they both have been great. I have the Conti DWS06 tires on another car and they are excellent all-around tires. Good wear and great performance in all conditions. I also have the new Michelin Pilot 4S tires to go on new wheels I am waiting to receive so I won't give an opinion on those yet. I think most of the others mentioned will probably be okay, just not the Goodyears or the Nittos.
