Let's say the buyer is a billionaire, do you think he cares if he/she paid $25,000 or $45,000?

There is a big difference between the car with 14 miles on it and one with 4,000 miles. I bought a 4,000 mile car last year and it is a very nice driver that is basically new. The 14 mile car is a collection centerpiece that you know has to be at least very close to the lowest mile 2004 in existence.

It's a trophy car. Will just sit and never get driven. What a waste. Looking at a 2004 z16 with 28k. In storage now.

Maybe to you but not to the collector.

That's exactly it. If the buyer enjoys having or looking at a car vs. driving it, that's their passion. To me it's pointless, but to each their own.
My FIL is very comfortable, and yet will scrimp and save, never even buy a coffee for his kids, grandkids... we all wondered why he doesn't enjoy his money. But he does... he enjoys having it. Whatever...

Good that makes mine worth more . I was hoping it would sell for more . I still don't get why Corvette people see a C-5 selling for good money why they think that's a bad thing .. I have some in my garage I might want to sell one day ,I hope the prices keep going up .. If of you are trying to help STOP ..

Great conversation guys. Thanks for giving this thread some traction. There used to be a Z16.org site that had tons of great information on these cars. Too bad it got taken down. I personally think that the Z16 Z06 was the best looking C5 made, and certainly one of the best track cars of its era. Still is a great track car.

I would love to add one to my garage and will continue my search for a low-mileage driver that was kept stock, and well maintained. I will drive it some, but not much, and just enjoy owning such a fine piece of engineering, as I do my 2015 C7 Z51 convertible. Value has always been determined by the buyer and every buyer has a different concept of worth based on his/her intended use. For example: The 2018 ZR1 in Sebring Orange, VIN #001, hammered at $925,000 for a $124,000 MSRP car. It was to raise money for charity and someone got a tax write off of about $800,000, but again - worth is in the eye of the buyer and never the seller, and every transaction is different.

Here’s to more Z16 Z06 sales that hold the value for those rare examples, and more that keep them affordable for those who enjoy really driving them or tracking them.

Have to admit it's also my favorite C5. Was in talks with owner of a 28k mile one in the fall and he promised me first shot at it when it comes out of storage in the spring.

I was surprised to see them only refer to it as a Z06 never mentioned it was a Z16...
could have said one of 2025 cars lemans commemorative ect, I did also expect it to go for more having never been titled... We have an 11,000 mile Z16 that My GF loves and even tracked for a while But she is always looking for a real low mile perfect car to just have in our garage with the rest of the toys.

We should all be happy that it held on to 95% of it's original MSRP...You hardly ever hear a C2 or C3 owner complain that one of their Gen sells for 10 times it's original price. As for all you that over mod, beat, and crash Zs keep it up, only works in the favor of those of us that drive, keep them maintain.

Mark.

personally, It's ashamed somebody bought such a great driving car, and sat it in a garage for 13 years and never enjoyed it, and ended up selling it for thousands less than they paid.....But there are many people out there that buy art, coins, stamps and pay much more for something to just look at! So if I had the money and wanted to collect "art" it would be cars, preferably Corvettes!
