Engine Oil Cooler on a stock Z06
Gentlemen,
Has anyone mounted an aftermarket Engine Oil Cooler on their Z06?
Whose cooler?
Where did you package it?
What size lines did you use?

Re: Engine Oil Cooler on a stock Z06 (Pumba)
DRM is 'Doug Rippie Motorsports' just west of Minneapolis, MN. A very good 'Vette' tuner. They make an oversize aluminum radiator with an integral oil cooler. I have one in my CARTEK modified 2002 Z06. The radiator, incl. a 160 deg. thermostat, keeps the coolant temps on track around 190 vs the stock unit's 225 and the oil temps under 220 vs stock 290. When it gets cold, the heater may not work too well. Who cares?!

I'm interested in this also as I overheat at the road race track in Texas. I pulled the front skirt apart last night and am thinking of locating a 6 pass cooler behind one or both of the front screens. I have seen 8 x 11s located where the front tag should go. The DRM were qouted to me at over $1200.00 which is a lot of jack so I think I'll work on an alternative.

great customer service, Randy entertained my questions for nearly 30 minutes when I bought their radiator/oil cooler about a week ago. Installing it tonight!

Re: Engine Oil Cooler on a stock Z06 (Pumba)
I took my bone stock Z06 to Motorsport Ranch once and hit 306 oil temps and 280 trans temps.
Then I took the car to 21st century musclecars where they installed an LPE radiator/oil cooler and a GMHP Trans Cooler. They also installed some DRM brake ducts for me, as well as PF01 brake pads all around and Goodridge SS brake lines. I just spent all day yesterday at MSR and the car felt great; in the afternoon when the track dried up and the temps were in the low 80's, I only hit oil temps of 250, coolant temps of 220, and had no transmission temp light. No more brake fade either, and the brake pedal felt firmer after the track session than before (LOL, I guess it takes a track day to finally break in a set of PF01's). Looks like I finally have what I wanted -- a car that is fast and reliable on the track on the weekend and can still be driven to work on Monday.
BTW, 21st Century Musclecars is a kick butt shop. Not only is their work top notch but John and Kerri really know how to run a professional shop.

Check with the folks at MTI--they have a heavy duty radiator/oil cooler that works well in the Texas heat. My last trip to TWS was May 31...end of day air temp was 100 degrees---water temp 225/oil temp 238 running a 7L motor.

I also have the DRM oil cooler. I have headers and Peter (when he was still at DRM) had me measure the space between the header and the sending unit to make sure it cleared their 90 degree fitting fo the cooler. You will be pleased with the results of this unit. :chevy
