Can you use aftermarket Headers with Stock Exhaust?
Can you get a noticable gain in power if you keep your stock exhaust and just add headers?

Stock with a Blackwing I was 365rwhp. With SLP LT headers, H-pipe & new cats I'm at 387rwhp. It increase in the entire curve. I'll try & scan the dyno sheet for you in a bit. :D

Re: Can you use aftermarket Headers with Stock Exhaust? (lager99)
I have the TPIS LT headers on an otherwise stock exhaust. I love the sound and I did pick up about 20 RWHP with it and a BW filter. But honestly the BW filter I feel may be a bit over rated as compared to a factory 03 air box. I dynoed when the car was bone stock wtih 900 miles and the numbers were identical with the full airbox and then no airbox at all. Perhaps one night I will do some track runs to prove it or not.
I also dropped 2 tenths by adding the LT headers. The factory exhaust on a Z flows really well as it is and unless you are looking for it to just be loud then I cant see changing it, but that is just my 2 pennies.
Also as a controlled experiment I took my buddies Z which was totally stock except a BW and ran a 12.5 on the same day at E-town as I was running my 12.3s. That along with the fact that I was running 12.5 before I did the headers confirmes to me anyway, the 2 tenth drop in ET

do you guys simply use the stock bolts, gaskets, etc... when installing your headers? If not, what did you use/recommend?

order FLP kit - it comes with Everything you need to make your headers swap most enjoyable and right :)
and if you have money :jester go get LGM headers kit http://store.flp2win.com/SearchResul...?CategoryID=11
or http://www.lgmotorsports.com/OCLS1_Corvette_Exhaust.htm

maybe I slow, but not for sure what you mean with the FLP kit? I already have TPIS headers, but no hardware was included? are you stating that there is a kit (gaskets, bolts (stage 8)), per the TPIS headers ?

Re: Can you use aftermarket Headers with Stock Exhaust? (sliderhss)
Actually you will pick up little or no RWHP with an aftermarket exhaust, with or W/O headers.
My long tubes (FLP's w/o cats) were good for 22 RWHP with LS1Edit tuning. 8 of that 22 were a result of removing the cats. More importantly that power was there all under the curve, which is what counts, not peak.
Just my .02 - other opinions will vary.

Re: Can you use aftermarket Headers with Stock Exhaust? (ZO6Les)
Les, I don't understand your comment. You say you won't pick up anyRWHP, then you state you picked up 14 RWHP from the headers?? I understand area under curve versus peak, but looks like you picked up 14 from headers and 8 from removing cats. Or are you atributing the 14 to tuning? George
