opening trunk lid?
any of you guys have a problem opening the trunk lid when the doors are already shut? if i pop the trunk lid open, it barely goes up and i have to work my pinkie to try to open it. its really not a problem when i pop it with the door open, because when i shut the door the pressure from the cabin kinda poofs it up. any ideas, tricks, or advice?

Try doing a search through the archives. This is a common and well documented problem, with an array of varying solutions. As Jim 47 suggested, additional lubricant on the latch mechanism seems to do the trick for most folks...myself included.

Re: opening trunk lid? (1badvr4)
This seems to be a common issue for Z06 owners. I have never seen a Z06 that popped its trunk more than a few degrees, leaving very little "finger room" for lifting the lid. Even though I would prefer to have the deck lid pop up several inches instead of "just a tad", the small amount of lift provides enough room to squeeze my fingers in and lift the deck. Therefore, I rate it as a pretty minor issue and just live with it.
Even so, I suspect that the forum archives may contain many suggestions for service actions or modifications that will increase the gap created when the deck is opened.

On this subject of trunk lids opening, its weird my 2002 Z06 only popped open just enough for my finger tips to get ahold of.
Now my new 2004 Z16 Z opens GREAT! it pops open about 2 to 3 inches just like it should. This car also seems more air tight and the seats are more comfortable. I see alot of improvements just from the 02 to the 04. Also my 02 Z only had 3600 miles on it before i traded in, so you cant say it was getting old.. lol..
Please let us know what you did to solve the problem

This has been posted before. Someone suggested you use your key to pry it up  but I think the WD or graphite sounds better.

Re: opening trunk lid? (RJTaylor)
Seems like its a problem in the colder months. My Z only has 1 strut, so I do know there is a TSB out for adding the 2nd one. GM replaces the hinge and adds the 2nd gas strut.
If mine doesn't pop all the way, I just open a door and shut it. The air pressure pops up the trunk. I'm not in the trunk that much to bother with the GM repair.
