Witnessed a C6 at the track
and i believe his best was a 13.3@109
109 being his top mph.....i was running 115 with a stock Z06.....yet another reason i know i made the right decision....

Your car is definitely a little quicker than a stock C6. But don't go by one car you saw at the track. I've seen Z06's run in the 13's and 14's at just over 100 MPH. Obviously they were really pathetic drivers. 
But I do agree, you made the right decision.

While I have no doubt the Z06 is technically faster than a C6 (albeit not by very much) don't think for a minute the times you witnessed are the best a C6 can do. And in the hands of an inept driver the Z can be made to look like a slug.

But I do agree, you made the right decision. If I went to the track, I would probably be one of those pathetic drivers.

You definitely made the right choice and the 02 and newer Z06s are definitely the KING OF THE HILL, that being said, I bet the C6 you saw did not have the Z16 performance package coupled with a manual tranny, as the Z06 only edges that out by .1 tenth in the 1/4 mile and 2 miles an hour but still is the UNDISPUTED KING OF THE CORVETTE WORLD and i am buying an 02 EB one TOMMORROW!!!!!!!!

A little more on this car.....it was a manual....had a little over 3K miles on it...and the owner didn;t know too much other than he knows it can out run anything on the road....

01-04 Z and C6= fastest times will be a real street racer with knowing how to drive the 1/4 mile!!! No exceptions! 15/20 h/p means nothing unless YOU can drive the car to the max.

On my first trip to the track I had the pleasure of racing Ernie from Breathless Performance in their new shop car which happens to be a C6 auto. They had already bolted up a set of headers, air bridge, and a Vortex intake. He and I ran several times and even though I had trouble finding 4th on 3 of the 4 runs we did have one clean run. We both went 12.5, only I went 115mph and he went around 110 IIRC.
He was getting me out of the hole cutting 1.9xx 60' times to my 2.0x-2.1x 60' times. As previously stated this was my first time at the track with a stock 02 Z in 80* humid south Florida weather.
The C6 has some serious potential and I think that owners will be pleased with "modability", but boy does that engine compartment appear to be tight!

with the z51 and a 6 speed it is going to come down to the drive 100% of the time. now when the new zo6 come out there will not be anything to even debate it will flat out hand you and ME our collective a$$e$$!
