Hi , I think porsche is getting ready for a new model, its nothing else but a boxster coupe, but named cayman S, I dont know the engine stats and the performance numbers yet,but I think this would be right around the 50-60k mark nicely loaded.
Check it out..

I said it in the off topic and I'll say it here,
What's the purpose of this car?
Almost 911 power with a better chassis and a mid-engine design at a lower price.
This car basically makes the base 911 obselete in my humble opinion.
While it might be a bit slower in straight line acceleration, I bet it matches the base 911 on a road coarse.
With 295bhp and a weight of 3000lb at $60,000 and it looks almost like a 911. It's down 30bhp, but ~100lbs lighter.
$10,000 is a lot for 30bhp and a few tenths in the 1/4.
If I where going to buy a 911 and then this came out, I'd save me $10,000.

So far every "circle" i contribute to has nicknamed this car the Porsche Gayman. And theres a reason for it..because there is no reason for this car to exist. This was made to fill the void between the Boxter and 911 however i fail to find a void? A low end 911 (bare bones) cost what a high end (loaded) boxter cost. Wheres the void? Plus much like most porsches it is under powered. It would still be classified as a GT car and by definition it should keep up but with only 295hp on tap in the S model and 260 in the non S i dont think there is anything viable about this car.

Safety Car
Porsche is looking for ways to expand their car sales. The biggest growth Porsche has seen in the last 5 years is their SUV the Cayanne, now actually selling more SUV's than cars. The new Ford of Germany.

I think the G55 AMG is quicker to 60, in the 1/4 and has > off road capability. Not against porsche its just not the only big fish in the pond.

Those are test-mule pictures, so the rear-end treatment isn't production representative.
I think a Boxster Coupe would be great if it was slightly lighter/less expensive, but I don't like the idea of giving it a new name (Caymen) and increasing the cost. They should have offered the engine upgrade as a Boxster Coupe "club sport" option IMHO

Hmmm... The article says:
This position of the new model is also borne out by its six-cylinder boxer engine transmitting maximum output of 295 bhp (217 kW) to the rear wheels.
Does the 911 even put 295 to the wheels? I don't see the author's name posted there. Probably for a reason as he or she is smoking some good stuff.

I don't think this car exist to be produced, becuase Porsche is producing a hard-top version of the Boxter (295 hp) for 2006, and it looks very similar, just further along in the refinement process.
