Anyone have it installed by the dealer or directly from Lojack? And what was the cost, there website is absent of any pricing
Do you even feel it's necessary or worth it. Thanks.
$695.00...$895.00 with the early warning system. Buy it at the dealer and select an install date. The dealer call lojack and lojack comes to you for the install.
Would you really want it back after some low life stole it.
Yes. Someone had their car stolen from our company here (a Jaguar) and they recovered it in an hour. What they said the serious thieves do these days is when they steal a car, they drop it off somewhere to let it sit for a few days (like the airport, as was the case with the Jaguar). If after a week the car's still sitting there, then they know it doesn't have a low-jack and they can take it to chop it.
So hence the car's really doing nothing but sitting there. Plus the last thing a thief would want to do is run rampant in your car and draw lots of attention to themselves.
LoJack install from the dealership I saw was $650 when coming on a new car.
I had Lojack on my last 2 cars, the last one being a C5. It was $700 and I rolled it into my lease. Now, when I get my new C6, I will not be getting the Lojack. Two separate dealers agreed that if the car is stolen, you do not want it back. (Lojack tries to tout the fact that you get the car back quick without damage-I think if you are lucky!) Check with your insurance company and see if you have gap insurance, which I do. In that case, you will not owe anything if the car has to be replaced due to extensive damage or they just can not find it. True, there is an insurance break, but I thnk not enough to warrant spending $700.
I should be getting my car next week but I thought I read somewhere that On-Star can track your car if its stolen-why would you want or even need Lojack if On-Star car track your stolen vehicle??? Am I missing anything here or was something lost in the translation?

That's the spirit! Just hand it to the thieves and let them get away with it with no penalty and no hassle. That'll put a dent in them ever doing that again, plus I'm sure that will help bring our insurance down! Why not just tape your fob to the drivers window to make it even easier for them!

That's what I thought, but apparently, if they pull the antenna off, On-Star tracking is screwed . . .

If the police would get off their assssssss and do something maybe that might help. The police say the courts let them go so why bother. In Southern CA the police don't even come out any more just file over the phone or internet. In San Diego the car's in Mexico before anyone knows it's stolen. From what I've been told the only way to steal a Corvette is to flatbed it at least those from 88 through 2004.

Onstar does tout the recovery aspect of the system, what they don't know or tell you is the thieves / jackers etc. have known from day one to rip off the antenna to disable the system. As far as I know Lojack is hidden and even the car's owner isn't told where it is.
Personally I like the idea of a key fob in my pocket with an ignition cut-off. That never seemed practical until now.

Thanks for all the replys and thoughts, im going to call my insurance company(State Farm) and see what the % disc is.And my state is a covered area by the police.
I agree with the theory that the thieves let the vehicle 'cool down' then chop it or ship overseas, so there not going to damage there potential profit.
What's amazing to me is that the exact same LoJack box only cost $495 in 1998 when I bought one for my wife's car. Aren't electronics supposed to come down in price, not go up? And yet I've had a Lexus dealer actually refuse to sell me one at a discount, apparently preferring to make $0 of profit than to sell a LoJack for less than full MSRP.
