Default Tire Problems

I woke up and noticed this am that i had a nail stuck in my tire. I took it to stokes tire in santa monica i used to go there with my '01 since a guy there used to be one of Dick Guldstrads employees. Well even though he is no longer their i still went because they have always been great, plus i figured a nail is no big deal. Well they pulled the nail and sure enough it needed to be patched so the took the wheel off the car. When they squeezed the tire to break the seal they tore the side wall.

I was convinced that i was screwed since i have hear the F1 run flat are not available yet. They said they located one in another state and it will be here Tues. They said they would have to put in a rental since they did not have the right size by another manufacturer for a loaner. I said please dont put me in a crapper and they insistead they wouldn't and they didn't. i am driving a low end mercedes the C230 or 270 or something. It's a 4 door and it drives nice just not enough power for my blood. I really hope the tire they found it the exect replacement since i keep hearing that people are having a hard time getting replacement F1 for the near bald tires at 8000 miles.

We'll see i will keep you posted. Also i have to say even though this really sux they have been as good as they could be considering. These guys knew how i am. They let me pull it in and they went over the car with a fine tooth comb with me befire they started.

Any reason you didn't take advantage of the Goodyear warranty?

Man does that suck! I had a screw in my Z51 tire last Wednesday. Fortunately they fixed it without issue. My Supra Turbo would have made a nice rental car had I needed it.

Are you worried now about those tires being mis-matched? How many miles are on your tires?

Goodyear has been fixing nail punctures for C6 folks without charge. I wasn't lucky enough to have a Goodyear dealer nearby, but did get a Goodyear-authorized repair shop to fix mine for $38. Repair wouldn't hold because it was too close to the sidewall.

Hope you have good luck with your replacement. Not sure how Goodyear's going to get involved & replace yours free, but don't forget about their road hazard warranty.

I don't know. I had a blowout on a tire on one of my C5s. Went to a none Goodyear tire store since we don't have a Goodyear store locally. This store isn't even an authorized store. They just happened to have some Goodyear run flats. So while they were installing one I called the Goodyear home office. The number is in the Goodyear brochure that came in the Corvette. I explained the situation. The person I was talking to said he would like to talked with the manager of the store. The manger got on the line and the two talked for a while. It ended up that the manager sent the damaged tire and bill to Goodyear. All I had to pay was the sales tax. It never hurts to try.

Datawiz- I am not too concerned about mismatch as i only have 4000 miles and they seem to be in great shape still surprisingly. I have not measured tread depth yet though.

hlcptr-I was not aware of the goodyear road hazzard i totally forgot. Also this is not there fault the tire was torn by the tire people not from driving. My other prob is that the only good year i remeber in this area is gone now but i did not look for another because as i said i trusted these guys from there previous service. The other thing was that i have to be back at work starting sunday and my next day off is next friday. My weekends are Fri & saturdays now and i noticed the nail today. I wanted to take the car to the dealer but they were closed by this time and well if they did this they would have put me in much worse of a rental.

All will be great by me if they get me a tire by tuesday as promissed and that the tread mismatch is negligable.

Make sure the replace tire has the correct TPC (Tire Performance Criteria) number.

I had the same situation a few weeks ago. screw was in the sidewall and could not be fixed. Goodyear got me a tire in a few days and it did not cost me anything thanks to this forum. Many Goodyear dealers are not aware of the road hazard warantee.
