Why Does the Corvette Have Bad Image with Young Women? C6 Seems No Better!
Ask young women (say age 20-39) what they think of Corvette owners (don't tell them you own one first), and their responses are always negative. One girlfriend said she would never have dated me if she knew I drove a Corvette (too late for her). Sometimes when I say you have a Corvette, it is just met with total silence. Just the other day, when I told a girlfriend I was thinking of upgrading my Corvette, her response was Corvettes are for middle aged men going through a mid-life crisis. Jeez! I knew this negative image existed in say the disco 70's or thereabouts, but I never expected that it still existed today, especially with the more sophisticated and higher priced C6. In fact, I have yet to meet any non-fugly girl who thinks a guy driving a Corvette is a plus. They all think we are compensating for some male inadequacy, and we are the type of guys who wear tight pants, gold chains, and our shirts unbuttoned down to our navel.
How did this "David Lee Roth" image get started anyway, and how has it persisted so long?
For us single guys, it's not good! This brand image needs help! Other makes don't seem to have this much of an negative image problem with women. Maybe GM should run some C6 ads showing regular people, so that the public doesn't think all Corvette buyers have a masculinity problem. I'm not talking about metrosexuals, but just decent looking, normal people.

I bought my Corvette because of the aerodynamics, looks, technology & power. Any woman who doesnt like it or me for having one -Is a woman I would not want to be with any way. Im single, succesfull, blessed. I did not purchase my Corvette for attracking woman, I can do that myself. The Corvette is a lifestyle. You make friends & learn about cutting edge technology. Im proud to drive this American dream.
F'em if they dont like it.

If I manage to bag a babe with it, it will just be a bonus.

In my experience the girls like me and generally care less about what I drive. If that is what is important to them, they'll never get a ride in anything I drive anyway.

A lot of it is jealousy related, they wish they could have a nice car that turned heads like the C6 does. Also, not many young people can afford the car so they think only rich snooty old people drive them.
Now I have only had mine for a few days, but I get more looks and smiles from the ladies than I ever have.

As a female friend of mine said recently when I announced the pending arrival "girls don't date guys with Vetts --- they know they'll always come second." Of course in my life there's also the dog in front of the line too.

Wow. I'm 44, happily ( I think ) married for 20 years and my wife wants me to get the Vette. She doesn't care if its a mid-life crisis as long as we share said crisis together. Ufortunately, I have forgotten what it was like to be single and deal with these perceptions (search for thread on LSD).

BTW, on my first date with my current wife, I brought her back to my house to have my dogs check her out. If they didn't like her, it would have been a deal breaker!

Don't EVER take the initiative and tell your prospective conquest that you have a Corvette, or any other hot car for that matter! She'll assume that you have inferiority issues and need to brag to bolster your image.
Plan it so that she finds out for herself, and when she does, DEFINITELY play it down!...
OH THAT?! (I'd NEVER think of THAT before you!)
She'll swoon. Because she always thought (but wouldn't say) Vettes were cool, and now you're putting her above it!
Take it from me, an expert!
Yeah right! I sold my '99 C5, it was still a virgin after 6 years!

The problem isn't high performance cars, it's the image the Corvette has (unfairly) been stuck with. Many women are attracted to Porsches JUST because they are Porsches. They can't even tell you which end the engine is in, but if it's a Porsche, they think it's hot. Conversely, if it's a Corvette, the owner must have an image or sexual problem. I can't understand why many women look askance at me in my Corvette. It looks mighty fine parked under the carport in front of my doublewide, the dermatologist managed to remove most of my tattoos and the dentist says my new choppers work a whole lot better than the original ones.

I have never owned anything with 4 wheels that was not a hot rod. My wife knew that she was getting married to a certifiable car nut Remember we really never mature, our toys just get more expensive
