Default Optima Batteries...

Has anyone had experience with Optima Batteries? I'm thinking of replacing the Delco battery which keeps dying (DBS) with the Optima Yellow top.

They're expensive but very good batteries. They are also sealed so no chance of exploding (battery exploded in my old car while at the track).

if you go to the optma web site they do not list a compatible battery, I have emailed them with a recomendation. I think the red top is fine as far as capacities go unless you need some extra ummph for a hi watt stereo. There may be some fit issues and the battery may need a 'booster' seat to fit. There are some really neat aluminum battery boxes on ebay do a search on optima battery. Your alternative is to get a new battery under warranty once a battery dies it loses it's ability to keep a charge. At this point you have a bad battery as well as DBS. I have an 06 and had one episode of a dead battery. I put on a priority start it is a gizmo that will sense a current drain and disconnect the battery from the car to keep it from going dead. You still have a dead car but just push in the cig lighter and it will reconnect protecting your battery and preventing your battery from getting discharged. I bought that from www.batterymart.com I am also buying a better trickel charger check out www.ctek.com I will repost once optima gets back to me.

Please supply more details on your dead battery situation.
If it is true 'DBS' the optima will help very little. It will only extend your time slightly, maybe a few hours, in catching DBS before the battery goes completely dead. If you don't have '05 MN6, it's not DBS.

Group 34 Battery fits just fine in the C6.

I know this for a FACT, as I put one in mine last week to replace the 8 month old OEM battery...

Actually the Red top has more CCA then the Yellow top. The Yellow top is a deep cycle battery which means it can take several discharges and still recover to full strength. It can still die on you but when recharged it will not have any ill effects from the discharge (supposedly). The Yellow top will run you any where from $20-$50 more then the Red top.

Optima is the best, but that will not make up for vehicle issues. If you don't find root cause of the DBS, the Optima will dead also. The difference is that it will take cycling better.

The group 34 will work in a 2005, but not a 2006 because the cables are reversed. I have a Yellow group 35 for my 2006.

Should be enough slack on the cables to go either way. I went with the yellowtop, because of the high drain my stereo puts on it.

timd38: Is the Yellow Top Group 35 a direct fit for the 2006 C6? Or are modifications needed to get it to fit?

Thanks
