You may also need a filter wrench and a breaker bar for the first oil change. My original filter was extremely overtightened by the factory.

I do it all the time. The C5 was difficult because the oil pan plug was a long reach, toward the front of the engine. But the C6 is on the side, so it's easy as pie. I am not overly strong, and do not have overly long arms. I continue to be mystified why people use jacks and ramps. The only slight problem is that you must find a shallow pan to fit under the car. I use a galvanized pan that I found at the hardware store. Good luck.

As I have mentioned several times the C6 is very easy to change oil and filter and you don't need a lift or ramps. I'm over 60 and only 5'9" and it is a piece of cake. You do need an extension for your socket drive, a pan to drop the old oil in and a filter wrench. Additionally a torque wrench as both the drain plug and the oil filter have torque values. See my post several days ago in the C6 tech section for details. About a 1/2 hour project and no wheels leave the ground

Me too... I don't even jack the car up. I use a wash basin type pan.. A couple of long extensions help as does turning the wheels all the way left.

Only if you're a wee bit of lad........... Here's the deal... if you have any problems without having the car in the air good luck! Just buy or make a set of ramps and it will go faster, easier and you can also check out the underside of the car for leaks. I also like that I can use my creeper and not roll around on the ground!

I did my first one without a lift. I used a floor jack and jackstand. Once the drain plug was out, I lowered the car and let the oil drain, then jacked up and reinstalled the drain plug. Not a big deal, actually very easy.

I changed mine for the first time a week ago. The car is one year old with a May 05 manufacture date. I was able to turn the old oil filter loose with my bare hand. It wasn't loose but I did not need a filter wrench. Is that abnormal or is that ok? I put the new filter on hand tight. Is that what you people are doing?

I've done it too. I drove mine up on strips of snow plow rubber, put my Craftsman lift with flat rubber pad under the front driver's side lift point. No jack stands needed. I slid under and out and I was done in about 1/2 hour.
