Just installed my removable front plate bracket. Good/ez to follow instructions, didn't take long to install, and seemed like good quality (for what it was). I'm curious tho, has anyone had any trouble with the wing nuts loosening over time, or once you tighten them down, do they tend to hold despite the vibrations created during driving?

I did see this question posted earlier but it doesn't make sense to me. I have a Vararam CAI on my car. The opening for the intake is right in the front middle exactly where your item mounts the plate. This CAI is supposed to be effective as a cold air intake and as giving a ram air effect. I don't see how this bracket wouldn't hinder the airflow into the Vararam as the opening would only be 4 or 5 inches directly behind it? Can your product be mounted off center? Any suggestions?

Hi CRAIGMEISTER, The Top Flight brackets are designed to be mounted in the center of the bumper so no, it can not be mounted off center.
In regards to the CAI systems, we do have customers that are running with them and the Top Flight brackets and to the best of my knowlege with no adverse effect. I am waiting for some info from one of the Forum Vendors that specializes in CAI systems and will post his response on this thread.

I got my removable bracket today! The installation was pretty easy.
I made one slight addition to the procedure though. I cut a narrow strip of blue painter's tape and stuck it vertically on the bumper of my black C6 until I was satisfied that I had it right in the center. Then when I stuck the bracket on I just lined up the white center line on the bracket with the strip of tape and I knew it was perfectly centered.
Now I just need a plate to mount to it. I should be getting them any day now.

I just ordered a c-6 removable kit from Top Flight. I would like to know what you guys asked when you entered the GM dealership as far as buying the touch up spray to paint the metallic frames yourself. Also what exactly is the process?? Sand, clean, and paint?
Thanks,

Paid For Itself.
Well, Was out cruising today and..........
all of a sudden the array of strobing
lights appear in the rear view mirror.
I look down and speedo says 85 MPH,
in a 60 zone. I pull over and figure this
is going to cost a bit. State trooper comes
to car and takes registation, ins. card and
my license and goes back to his unmarked
Malibu. He comes back with his ticket book
and hands me my paper work, as I wait for
him to start writing, he says," I'm not giving
you a ticket because you are the first Corvette
I have seen with a front license plate iin the
last 6 months". He says, "slow down and have
a good day".
That's my Top Flight Report,

I am about ready to order one of these. Has anyone had a problem with the bumber getting scratched? One person on this thread indicated a problem, but I don't know if it just wasn't installed right.

that when I take it off now, the car doesn't look
complete.

You could try dry fitting it with the license plate attached. That way you can see how close the top edge of the plate will be to the bumper before you do anything permanent.

The tag actually screws onto a metal bracket with the four screws you see in the picture. That bracket mounts to another metal bracket via two wing nuts. This bracket is attached to the underneath of the upper intake portion of the bumper. The GM Body Coloered licence plate frames are plastic. You can go to the website for info and installation instructions: www.topflightrepro.com
The bracket is attached with double-sided tape? Is it sturdy? I'm assuming the bracket itself is not removable once it is installed?
Thanks.

Hi redcrane, The Top Flight license plate bracket is an upside L shape with a curved face that the license plate attaches to.
"The Permanent" mount version of this bracket has 3M adhesive on the top flange and attaches to the underside of the top front bumper.
"The Removable" mount version has a secondary mounting bracket which is flat and has 3M adhesive on one side that attaches to the underside of the top front bumper. This secondary mounting bracket also has two threaded studs on the opposite side that attaches the L shaped license plate bracket with two wing nuts. And yes the adhesive is solid.

No one seems to be able to answer this question, so I'll ask again - the TopFlight wouldn't work with a front cover on the car, right? It appears to stick to the top and bottom plastic of lower intake, and the cover masks all that. So, either I stick it to the cover, or it won't work?

Hi Mike, I don't think it will work without making modifications to the bra, sorry.
