Man, I like to put premium. I don't feed my wife McDonald's either. Only the best for the most important things in life.

But, if it doesn't bother you and it doesn't hurt anything, go ahead and save. Good for you. I bet the DIC says about 25.xxmpg doesn't it? Mine says 20.xx because I mash on it a little. So I feel better about the gas, whereas if I was using regular and mashing it I would worry myself a little, and it's not worth worrying about. my .02

No...., 20 cents when gas was $1.29 actually was "worth" more than 20 cents is now, as inflation erodes how much you can buy with that money, over time. This fact further bolsters the argument that buying premium, instead of regular, can be done for less of a "premium" now, when compared to days past...

I'm glad someone else realizes that one's health is very important!

The Corvette is just a car no matter what you feed it!

If you don't have your health, it really doesn't matter what car you drive, or what gas you use.

Jimmie welcome to the forums but you do realize that this post is over 10 years old right ???

If you do a search you will see that this topic has been beaten to death and everybody has a different opinion...

so here is mine , you bought a corvette right, it has a high performance motor right... and you would want it to run the best it can right .... then just use premium .....
if someone can't afford premium for their corvette or is worrying about the price difference between the two then they should have bought a normal sedan ....

And to give you every advantage against having expensive fuel system repairs, use only top tier fuels.

Regular can be used. The timing will adjust BUT you will not have the power it was designed for . It will possibly knock , it might hurt other parts of the car. Why purchase a high performance car and not use the best gas. Inside the gas door is a lable stating 93-91 REQUIRED , not reccommended REQUIRED. Enjoy your new ride

Surprisingly I didn't see or feel much difference in my 07 LS2. I do feel my 12 LS3 idles and runs better with 93 octane so that is what I run. There is one local station that had 91 no ethanol that I have thought about trying. It is not convenient to my house so I haven't ventured out of my way to try it.

Hard to believe someone buys a sports car and then asks this question.

Buying 87 octane is like buying cheap whiskey. Life is too short for cheap whiskey.

I'd wager 95% of those ramming their Premium agenda down everyone's throats have never filled the car with anything less. I've filled it with both and done a fair amount of comparison and I promise your butt dyno will not feel the difference. Premium is not race octane. Personally, I have had no issues with knocking, but your experience could be different.

My vette is my daily driver and has already had 12,000 miles put on the dial in less than 8 months, including a month a half of sitting on the jack stands having her balancer replaced. I mainly use regular and give her a flush with premium every 4-5 tanks. Anybody has a problem with DD my vette or what fuel I choose to use can eat my ***. Acceptable fuel options are right there in the manual. It's a poor man's sports car, not a Bugatti.

Lets have this thread die a peaceful death. If additional discussion is needed on what grade of fuel to use, someone can start a new thread
