Default Nav System - help please!

When using the POI function to locate a particular type of restaurant (ie - Seafood) is there a way to bring up a list of all available seafood restaurants in a city so I can then scroll to find my preference? The system brings up the first letter of the name but not a complete list.

I know how to input the city and category, just need help with a visual list from which to choose.

Your help is appreciated!

I'm pretty sure the answer to your question is NO. I have not been able to do exactly the thing you want. You have to start inputing a name in order to see any kind of list at all. This isn't the best especially when you are in an area that you aren't familiar with. I'm no novice when it comes the GPS units as I have used a number of different brands extensively.

By comparison, I have a Garmin portable unit that I move between my other cars and it does exactly the thing you want. You ask it for a restaurant and it gives you a list of all the restaurants beginning with the one that is closet to your location. This is all restaurants UNLESS you specifically ask for lets say, Fast Food, or Mexican etc.. It is really nice because you simply touch the place you want and away you go.

I do still like the system in the Corvette but it sure could use this feature. Maybe one day it will come if it is something that can be updated in the software. One can only hope.

Just hit the voice command button and say "Seafood" or "Seafood Restaurant" and your nav display will show restaurant icons for all the seafood restaurants in the area.

Well now, I'll have to give that a try! I must say I hadn't done that specifically. The issue with the icons however, is being able to touch them to get a route to it. I find this doesn't work as smoothly as it could be.

I don't use voice promts very much because you need to know exactly what to say in order for the command to be recoginized. I just figured that over time, little by little, I'll put more and more commands in play. Right now I only use a few voice commands. Probably the command I use the most is: "POI OFF".

Yeah it's tricky because you have to touch the on-screen icon twice (behave!) and then you can set it as a destination. Of course the other issue is the rather skimpy database we still have .
