I think I read somewhere on the Board how you can make the "chime"
louder. I suspect thats not what you had in mind. The question has been brought up before but I am not aware of how to get rid of the "chime" other than blowing up the car. If you find another way let me know.
Good luck.
I love my new C-6!!! Best thing I have ever purchased. Picked up at Bowling Green July 29 and have racked up 1300 glorious miles.
Question..and yes I did RTDM, has anyone fiqured out how to turn the DIC Chime off?
Cheers
Rick
There's no way I know to disable just the chimes when you push DIC buttons. You can disable all warning chimes by cutting the Class II data link between the DLC and the HU, but that's probably not a good idea. There are some alerts you want to hear.

Could one splice in a resistor to tone it down a bit or is it a digital signal comming out of the DLC?

The Class II bus is a digital signaling channel used by various systems in the car to communicate with each other. It is slower than the GMLAN used by the powertrain modules, but it is important to the function of the car. In fact, on reflection I'm not sure the radio would even work if its connection to the Class II bus were cut. That'd likely cause the anti-theft feature of the radio to kick in because it would no longer be able to handshake with the BCM at startup.
The default volume and inability to turn down the volume of the chime is just one of those things it seems that got through the Corvette team and shouldn't have. Hell, I can't stand ANY damn buzzing, chiming, and beeping when I start a car. Seems like they'd give you a minute before starting on their nanny rant. Who gives a rat's *** that I don't have my seatbelt on yet - I'm not even moving! And why do I need a LOUD chime every time I hit one of those big plastic DIC buttons? If the function changes in the display that should be confirmation enough. Damn, I love to bitch.
