Here’s something else I learned about OnStar today. Just got an email
giving me the “OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics report” that I requested. (I
don’t remember requesting it, but my memory’s not the greatest.)

Apparently OnStar is continually reading and “diagnosing” all this stuff
about my car, telling me if any of the components need servicing, etc.
It covers:

Engine and/or Transmission System
Emissions System
Air Bag System
Antilock Braking System
OnStar System
Remaining Oil Life
Mileage (It knows the EXACT miles on the odometer)
Selling dealer - address and phone
OnStar Subscription - expiration
Hands-Free Calling - minutes remaining
XM Satellite Radio - the ID #

This email from them didn’t say it, but I wonder if OnStar - in effect -
acts as a “black box,” wherein it records and stores a lot of OTHER info,
like your driving actions, speed at the time of the accident, etc.

Like much other, many of you probably already knew about this “OnStar
Vehicle Diagnostics report” .. but I didn’t.

And it does not diagnose much... I have a tire pressure sensor out and it did not tell me in my latest report.......
