Forget the Retro Vette!
From the 24 Sept. issue of AutoWeek: "Magna Steyr's pitch to develop a retro Corvette to
commemorate the marque's 50th anniversary in 2003 has been rejected by GM president
Ron Zarrella. Displayed at the Woodward Dream Cruise, the supplier-developed prototype
borrowed styling cues from the original Corvette and applied them to the current C5 plat-
form. GM has its own internal plan to commemorate the nameplate's anniversary, as well
as a "halo car" strategy (involving Corvette), the SSR and as-yet-unapproved potential
