Well heck...I have an LS-2 and I for one don't think that it's a better motor because it has a higher CR. The LS-3 should be a stronger running motor simply because of the tweaks in it for that 30 (or whatever...LOL) extra HP. Notice I said "STRONGER" motor....and not necessarily "BETTER" motor. For someone to hang their hat on the fact that one motor has about a .5 (or whatever...LOL) advantage in CR is kinda like grabbing at straws.....

The LS3 doesn't need higher compression because of the improved head design. It's why some guys with LS2's swap to LS3 heads just to try to stay up.

You mean there are actually LS2 owners who swap out their cathedral port heads for those garbage rectangular port heads of the LS3? What fools!

Yeah. Some even tried to use the LS2 intake manifold, but the air filter wouldn't fit right.

This is an interesting little piece of information.

A base 6-speed with 3.90 is extremely close to a Z51 gearing. Base w/ 3.90 is actually more advantageous for the 1/4mi because of the shorter 4th gear, topping out around 135mph vs 150mph. So 4th will pull quite a bit harder before crossing the line.
