Skip Shift not a bother!
THe C5 skip shift was very intrusive!
So before I even got delivery of my Z06, I ordered a skip shift eliminator.
I did not install yet because I don't even notice it.
Anyone actually have issues with the skip shift?

Best of luck with your new car!
This has been discussed here before about 90 thousand times. I think the majority find CAGS to be a PITA, but there are a lot that don't mind it either.
I have the CAGS eliminator. Since I drive quite conservatively much of the time around town, the CAGS light goes on almost all the time... which means I am taking good advantage of the eliminator. I can skip from 1 to 3, or go 1,2,4 or whatever I choose... without having to "trick" the car into letting me do it or having to move the shifter more than necessary.
In traffic or when driving conservatively, CAGS can be a real pain. I do not like the idea of having to lay into the pedal harder or get the rpms up higher etc JUST to get out of the CAGS range.
Plus, in an emergency situation, if you need to take off fast to avoid getting hit or whatever, the last thing you need is for the shifter to not allow you to get into the appropriate gear immediately.

I noted the same thing you did. My 2 previous 6spds the CAGS thing was a PITA and I put in the override. In my C6 (Z51) it has not been intrusive at all. Have not bothered to buy the gizmo. $20 is not a big deal to spend, but I do not need it on this car

That thing bugs the crap out of me. I'm always getting blocked out of 2nd when I'm trying to drive in city traffic. I have a CAGS eliminator and I am going to install it ASAP.

Not me, I disabled it as soon as I got the car home.

My skip-shift was tuned out of existence with the 403 engine but for the year or more I drove it stock....I think the skip-shift only kicked-in 2 or 3 times. It was annoying when it happened but hardly a bother.

I had the CAGS electronically removed when I had my car tuned by Chuck at CoW. Nice to make it disaapear forever, but I always tend to shift at about 2500 rpm, so I hardly ever saw it anyway.

Is there even a skip shift requirement for the Z06/LS7 motor? Just curious, as the reason it was installed in the C5/C6 manual tranny cars was to meet government CAFE requirements on gas mileage, so I'm wondering if Chevy even bothered to install the CAGS for the 427 motor. If not, that would explain why you haven't noticed it.

I notice mine if I am in really slow moving trafic or when I turn into parking lots as I tend to put it into second gear to avoid any herky-jerkyness of 1st gear. I'm lazy that way I guess. But under normal driving, I shift at or above 2000rpms, so it never bothers me. I don't commute in bumper to bumper traffic, and avoid it with this car as I mainly bought it to drive for enjoyment and road trips. If it gets to where it bugs me alot, I will pay the $20 bucks for the litle doo-dad an be done with it. So far it's not a big deal at all to me.
YMMV...
Enjoy the new car BTW!

1) I bought a manual transmission.
2) I have that to allow me to shift when I want to shift.
3) I have that to allow me to shift to the gear of my choice.
I do NOT need or want a restriction or requirement on my shifting at ANY time.
CAGS is a restriction or requirement.
NO CAGS on my car, thanks.

I bought one thinking CAGS would drive me crazy! I've never had the CAGS come on one time in over 6k miles.... Either it doesn't work or I never shift at low RPM... I think I know which.......

I did the same thing i.e. ran out and bought the CAGS eliminator and never installed it..I've only tangled with CAGS a couple of times. Better to make friends with it...get out of first as fast as you can and never a problem. The car has so much torque that even low RPMs in second is fine..however 1st gear from a standing standing start every time..

The only time it ever is a problem is when I turn slowly from a stoplight at 90 degrees coming or going to the base. I just put it in third instead of following thru into 4th. With 400 + pound feet of torque, 3rd is more than adequate in any slowspeed situation I can think of. Witht the $20 I saved, I almost paid the whole subscription to Porsche Excellence so I can see how the other half lives...

Drifting
Never bothered me. I agree the C5 skip was more intrusive from what I remember however in the C6 I really don't notice it unless I am looking at the gauges when I am shifting out of first. Rarely if ever do I shift under 3k rpm so my driving style defeats it. It isn't great for gas milage but that is not why I bought a Corvette.
