Clutch Problem
Update 4/3/07
I have the car taken to the dealer Friday, 3/30/07, it is now apart, the main problem is a bad pressure plate, almost all of the springs have failed and there are only 3 of the arms with the correct spring pressure still on them, this also allowed the throw out bearing to ride the pressure plate at an angle, and it is worn to the point of almost coming apart, according the Chevrolet engineering, there was some of these bad pressure plates in the SSR, GTO, and Corvettes. Per Chevrolet, when the throw out gets cocked like that due to the pressure plate problem, it modulates and causes the slave cylinder to bellow and push air throw the system as well, in addition, after taking depth readings from the pressure plate housingto the flywheel surface, it also has one the mis-machined flywheels, which is currently on back order from Chevrolet.

More seriously, it may have been afflicted with heat decomposition of the clutch fluid at the slave cylinder. Do a search for posts about changing the clutch fluid. Be sure to use DOT 4 Brake Fluid in the clutch, and once you get it working again, be sure to put clutch fluid exchanges on your list of periodic preventive maintenance.
