Bob Lutz "signs off" on C6.
Autoweek: Bob Lutz has approved the next Corvette with some changes. It is to be introduced in 04 as an 05 model. Obviously the design has been "frozen" ---- lets hope.
SORRY! I SEE THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN POSTED.

I'm glad to hear Bob Lutz will be able to have his input on the C6 design.
It's worth an extra year wait. :yesnod:  :yesnod:

True, but it sure beats the 13 years of the C4 hands down!

HEY!! Only reason we had 14 model years of C4 was because C5 took so damn long to get off the ground.

Eight years isn't far off the plan.
The plan for C5 was a seven-model-year run. If it hadn't been for Mr. Lutz, I suspect they would have made the C6 introduction on time as a MY2004 car. As it is, a one-model-year delay for a true car-guy's input is probably a good thing.
My only concern is that a 350hp C5 Corvette in MY2004 is probably not competitive.

I would suspect that the C5 will see a power increase before the end of its run. Engine development progresses independently of the vehicle. In the early sixties it was pretty well known that a new Corvette was in the pipeline for '63, so the final C1 model was given a shot in the arm with the new 327 CID small block, all of which carried over to the new Sting Ray with only minor changes, so I expect they will do the same for the last year or two of the C5 as long as the new engines are ready for production.
