And I do agree, there will have to be a new category for stock LS3s (no need for a list for modded LS3, I've read so many posts lately of LS2 owners who don't car about the new engine because they have modded their cars to outrun us stock LS3 guys anyway. Screw em

The 2006/2007 A6 C6 Automatic 0-60mph times average 4.5 seconds from most tests.
The 2008 Manual has not yet been rated, but Motortrend thinks it will be about .20 tenths of a second quicker than the automatic making the 2008 MZ6 manual Z51 0-60mph in 4.0-4.1 second range.
The 38lbs weight gain is shown on specs across the entire 2008 C6 line including the 2008 Z06. It may just be a more accurate weight???

marina blue now states chassis dynos do not matter and are too unreliable to count on.....but I ask this question if thats the case:
I've got a car, that I want to mod with a simple head/cam package. The car is 100% showroom stock. I pack the car up on the transport and ship that sucker straight to Katech in Michigan. They're one of the best tuners, and a supporting tuner of the corvette forum. And not unlike other supporting vendors on this forum (LPE, 21st Cent, MTI Houston, LGM, Cartek, etc...) what is the first thing they are going to do when my car gets there? You guessed it....CHASSIS DYNO FOR A BASELINE. What do you think is going to happen after they add the head and cam package I just spent good money on? To verify and justify the money I just spent with them? A CHASSIS DYNO AFTER MODS.
Contrary to what some of this thread will have you believe, very few shops are going to RIP OUT YOUR ENGINE AND ENGINE DYNO YOUR SETUP. They're not going to do that. They're going to RELY ON A CHASSIS DYNO TO DEMONSTRATE POWER/TQ GAINED FOR THEIR PRODUCT OFFERINGS.
I am not one that is so paranoid about chassis dynos that I won't take the information they supply as USELESS. I've been to many supporting corvette forum tuner shops and have found most everyone uses a 248C dynojet. And strangely enough, my car in the exact mod state, in varying weather conditions, have dynoed SAE within 2-4 RWHP AT 4 DIFFERENT FACILITIES. I'd call that fairly accurate and within tolerance levels. If you take a car to a reputable shop you will get darn accurate chassis dyno results.
So, now I'm back full circle: HOW CAN THE LS2 and LS7 BE ON THE SAME CRANK SAE RATING SYSTEM, WHICH INDICATES A 105 CRANK LEVEL DIFFERENCE WHEN THEY'RE CHASSIS DYNOING 100RWHP APART ON AVERAGE AT REPUTABLE CORVETTE FORUM SUPPORTING VENDORS SHOPS...
Shorty answer is...the LS2 is appearing not to be anywhere near the new SAE crank rated 412 crank as a few posters in this thread would want you to believe.

Actually, both are SAE, but SAE's latest standard requires that the testing must be witnessed and independently verified by a test engineer not in the manufacturer's employ. Most manufacturer's cars are testing lower now that the tests have to be independently verified, some significantly lower. A few have tested higher, example the LS7, which picked up 1%. It is entirely reasonable to believe that the LS2 is one of the majority that tests lower on the independently verified test procedure. The purpose of the verification requirement is to prevent manufacturers from over or under stating the power output of their engines for marketing or competitive reasons.

So why is it "reasonable" to expect that the LS2 did?
That latest graph states 2008 LS2. Which 2008 models had the LS2 in them and what were they rated at and under which SAE standard?
with you on that.

New 2008 Corvettes photos inside Assembly Plant!!!
Over at Autoblog, there are lots of new '08 Corvette photos of a silver coupe, cutaways of a transmission and LS3 engine, color samples of paint and leather and more from what looks like a seminar to magazine writers and photographers that need a long-lead time for their 2008 new features of Corvettes.
Here it is:

I dont have time to read through all these pages.... but I will add that I did get to drive an 08 Z51 at the birthday bash.... it had a Z06 exhaust on it.. compared to my 05 I could tell a good difference between them....you can feel the 35 HP.... the transmission shift felt better as did the steering... much more precise I think.... with the added interior upgrades I was very excited to know I will be getting one very soon.... definetly more refined....
