Default Cool Cop

I was traveling down the interstate Friday evening and was trying to get to my youngest sons softball game. I was already a little late so when I had the opportunity I gunned it to get away from the traffic. I had earlier passed a modded up 'Rusttang' and as I approaced 100mph I noticed headlights coming up quickly. The V1 wasnt going off so I thought it was the stang and it got on my bumper. Naturally, I nailed the accelarator and was gone to 120 in a flash. I then slowed back to 100mph and the car caught up so I moved over to let this person go on by since I had already demonstrated the superiority of the Vette As the car went by me at 110-120, to my suprise, it was a county patrol car. He simply flashed his light and floored it. Although shocked for a moment, I proceeded to catch up with him and we got off the same exit to my kids game. He simply smiled and waved. I wasn't doing anything wreckless and I guess he appreciated the American Icon. Cool guy.

CETA,
A word of caution. I don't think your going to find alot of people on this mature forum endorsing your highway behavior. My wife and daughter are out there on that road too and I just assume not trust their future to your self proclaimed driving prowess. Buy some track time.

Don't listen to them. 120mphs in this car on the open highway is what the car was built for. Let us imagine that we had no speed limits (Montana & THE GERMANS) how fast would anyone of us drive our vettes around. In city 88-91 feels great. Rural areas ???? I don't agree with street racing thou. Btw are all Gremans crazy for driving the way they do? We need more training before the gumball machine spits out drivers licenses. That's our #1 problem, most Americans have no clue how to drive. Too many people cannot parallel park, don't know how to use their rear view mirrors, and are oblivious to the unwritten law of the road. Go for a ride in any Euro country and you'll see.

P.S. Sorry for the rant

I'm glad you made it to your son's game and that you weren't cited but your actions and attitude are questionable to say the least. We all feel the competitive spirit but going 120 mph on a public road 'demonstrating the superiority' of the Vette is not the way to go.

Your 'race' with the Mustang notwithstanding, you would be better off slowing-down and being 5 mintues late to the game. Why risk killing yourself or others? Be there for your son's next game.

Find a local club and get your car onto a track.

Default dumb and dumber

Dumb is driving 120 with your child in the car. Dumber is proclaiming it with a sense of pride. Really stupid is the officer than gave you a pass. As for the 'it is made to go that fast' post, when he slams into your wife and kids at 120 recall you think it is fine. Get a five point harness, helmet, take the child seat out, and go to a track. If you kill someone, the chances are nearly 100% it will only be you.

I hope nobody in here is so brainwashed that they think the speed limit is actually the only safe speed to drive, especially on the highway

I have no idea what the road, traffic, weather, etc. conditions were like, but 120mph is not dangerous at all in some places. In other places it's extremely irresponsible. Why not give Ceta 256 the benefit of the doubt and assume he wouldn't have been doing 120 if the conditions didn't allow him to do it safely?

Thank you. Didn't mean to irratate anyone, but the interstate through there is flat as a pancake and there was very little traffic(always slowed down when approaching another vehicle). I generally run 75-85 in my 07 escalade on this part of the interstate and frankly 100 feels about the same as the Escalade at that speed and it certainly stops better. Anyway, didn't mean to offend anyone and I will keep any such experiences to myself in the future. Good luck all.
