Default Theft Deterrent idiot light came on...

And stayed on. (It looks like a car with a lock in front of it just above the "headlight on" light . I had to get out the manual to identify it. :o )
Stopped for gas and it came back on when I restarted. I fiddled with the fog light/headlight stalk and it went out and didn't come back on. Manual says to take it in if it stays on solid.
Anyone else seen this?

First I've heard of it. Did you have any work done recently or change anything, battery?

Nope nothing done since the 15K service a several weeks ago. There was also no warnings on the DIC or binging sounds. I just happened to glance down and see it. Oh well, I'll see if it comes back tomorrow...

Never heard of that. Hope it's a simple fix.

Prob just a glitch. Take to dealer if it happens again.

With my C-5 after washing the DIC displayed all warnings one after the other then the car shut down and would do nothing. Had it towed to dealer and 2 of the computers had shorted out. lucky I had extended warranty....700.00 dollars. Best 50 bucks I have ever spent. That it what it cost me to transfer the extended warranty to my name.

I had this light come on in my '05 after driving in a hard rain. The light came on and stayed on after driving for about 45 min. I figured some circuit got wet and triggered the light.

Next day when all was dry the light was out. I took it to the dealer anyway, but they didn't find anything (no surprise), no codes stored in the computer.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it comes on again, stays on, and you can take it to the dealer with the light on.

It was off this morning as I drove to work, so I guess it was just a computer burp... That's good as I hate taking electrical problems to the dealer unless it is obviously broken. Only weird thing is why did it go off yesterday when I turned on the fog lights? I doubt they are related circuits.
If it comes back and I actually find something wrong I'll let everyone know...

Glad it was "just" a gremlin. These cars have so much electrical/electronic circuitry, grounds, etc. that they can give us trouble at any time. Hope it stays away.

My 2007 Coupe keeps the lock light lit until the Key Fob is out of range.
I noticed it when leaving the car at night. It does not illuminate when you reapproach the car. Only as you leave.
It also illuminates when there is a key left in the car as well as three quick horn beeps given as a warning.

I could be way off, but could it be a loose gas cap? Said it happened after you refilled. Correct me if I'm wrong, but some cars flash a light when the cap is loose do they not?

mine, just came on for the first time, won't go off....

aside for the light, car behaves the same, worried about something going wrong though

if it keeps on I'll take in for warranty, hope those bastards at the dealer don't just take the bulb out....I wouldn't put it past them

Although 'loose' is pretty much the norm for the C6 gas cap I think you'd get a 'check gas cap' warning. If there is another light related to the gas cap...I'm not familiar with it.
