A beer at Carlisle to the first person...
A beer at Carlisle to the first person...who can tell me sonclusively what that odour we get from time to time in the C6.
I have seen numerous threads about it, but haven't seen a final answer. For me it is random. It smells like a mix of the sickly sweet smell from rad fluid, mixed with burning electrical wiring, and a dash of hot engine to boot.
Given that I can smell this with the top down on the vetter on the highway, it means there is a real location for the odour.
So, I will be at Carlisle and buy a beer for the first one who can me where this comes from. A second beer if you can tell me how to stop it.
thanks

Hmmm.. intermittent odors when sitting in the car.
Here in the states, we call that "breaking wind"

The odor I get from time to time is burning rubber, less right foot pressure seems to take care of it.

"In honor of jpee"
it might be tire rubber. sometimes, after a long run, I'll put it in the garage, close the doors, and come back awhile later. that's what I smell, and if you put your nose close to the tire when hot, you might, too.
sorry, not going to be at carlisle this year.

Something lodged in the HVAC air filter perhaps?
Ingested any squirrels lately?
Been cooking any food on the exhaust manifolds? Heard that was a Canadian tradition.
Just trying to help.

Odor
The odor you are experiencing may be mold in the air conditioning system. If so, you can eliminate the odor by cleaning the cabin air filter and spraying it and the vents with lysol.

Should you drive over a green plastic bag ,and it touch your very hot exhaust pipe,it will melt onto it.
There after it will burn and give off noxious odors until it has been scraped off.
A thorough exam of exhaust is called for. Good luck
