In the Dallas area there are 4 processing plants that supply all the gas. Only difference is the additives(small amount per tanker). Very little difference in brands. It is all marketing.

If the additives can really make a big difference in engine deposits (as they claimed) then I'd probably stick with Shell or Chevron.. I hope that some independent test would confirm it.

I like to use only Shell because its a top tier gas. Im sure Costco gas is just fine however.

Purely a marketting gimmick dreamed up by Quicktrip...

I was told in the northeast that Hess is the best gas as they refine locally so it sits the shortest time and doesn't make the long pipeline trip to get here, picking up condensation or debris. The prices are usually in line with most stations, too.

Bottom line - all gas comes from the same place. Shell, Chevron, etc. may put slightly different additives in the mix, but 99.9% of it is exactly the same. Not a bit of difference. So long as you get a high enough octane, gas is gas.

NEVER!!! I used to believe all gas was the same. I did notice that cars ran better after a few tanks of Chevron but I assumed that was just coincidence. Then I started using only Top Tier gasses. Now I find the idle is smooth as glass all the time. No more loping at the stop light. Acceleration is smoother and more consistent also. And the price of Top Tier gas is often less than the cost of off brands. Yes, all gas comes from the same refineries and the only difference is the small amount of additives. But the same is true of water. It all comes from the sky but I'd rather drink city water with a tiny amount of chlorine than swamp water.

I only use Shell top tier gas in all my cars. Most premium gases meet this standard. Top Tier stations add the correct amount of cleaning additives to all grades of gasolines, that's their difference. They'll keep all your other vehicles engines running cleaner.

My wife was using Costco and Sam's club gas in her '03 Trailblazer untill we started geting a serious hesitation problem.
We used two tankfulls of Shell V-power additive into two tank fulls of Shell V-power and have used Shell or Sunoco regular ( both top tier gasolines) since then and no longer have the hesitation problem.
I am hesitant to try anything but a top tier gasoline in any of our Vettes

Not as long as I can get gas at a place that the lines are not a half mile long

It all comes from the same pipeline. Additives are the difference and there aren't many differences between them IMO.

I live within walking distance to the local costco and drive by it every day on my way home (it's interesting to see how the price fluctuates, seems they get fuel delivered late saturday morning and then saturday afternoon the price changes). Seems to change about 2 times a week typically.
Anyway, I *think* (I could be completely off base) the trucks delivering the gas I believe are BP if I recall correctly, I checked one out one day and although it didn't have a huge BP logo on it, it did have their color scheme.
So far, the car runs great with no issues and considering I'm saving 20 to 30 cents a gallon, I'm more than happy with it.
