Challenging problem solved
Anyway , I had my dealer cut a new key ( from my VIN), popped the trunk, door open, of course alarm is blaring. My mechanic ( who came from the dealer out to the house, we did not tow to dealer) then hooked up his Diag to shut off the alarm. I had purchased two new FOBS ( slots three and four ) and now the reloading process begins. GM does have a set procedure for this. It does not matter which FOB is the 'transmitter' or not. We hooked up the Diag to the security system, and bascially is a 10 min process to 'reload' and 'relearn' each FOB. After that you put each in the glove box slot , system acknowledges and then you are complete. The whole process was about 25 minutes, you must follow every step precisely to the 30 sec interval.
Several notes, 1) the reloading and relearning process almost drained the battery, so have cables or a charger near by 2) try to avoid having towed 3) The Vette security system and FOB design is the BEST !
