Default B&B X-pipe with resonators?

B&B has an x-pipe with resonators (FCOR-0440) on its website and I was wondering what the difference would be from an x-pipe without resonators? Louder- softer- difference in sound??? Any thoughts out there? Looking to purchase... already have Bullets and love them !
Thanks in advance

I had the B&B Route 66 with the B&B Xpipe on my 07 M6 Vert. There was a lot of resonance in the 1600 to 2000 RPM range. I swapped the Xpipe out for the one with the resonator. The majority of the resonance in that range is gone, much better for driving around town now. The overall sound level may be a little quieter now. It is still louder than the 99 A4 I had with B&B Touring and stock Hpipe. According to Mike Boat at B&B the regular Xpipe should have reduced the resonance, he wanted me to bring the car up for him to listen to but I could never get in touch with him after the initial call to finalize an appointment so I just went ahead and purchased the other pipe.

Thanks C5 Tom, now was that the PRT center muffler or was it the x-pipe with the dual resonators? I am wondering what the difference the resonators make against just plain pipes? I would be afraid that the resonators amplify the sound and make the bullets too loud for driving? What is the intended application for the x-pipe with the resonator?

Did you ever have the route 66's on the car before the resonators? If so what difference did they make...

I have........The external sounds stayed mostly the same when the resonators were put on. The inside noise or "drone" went away.....much more enjoyable to drive!!!!

What I installed was the PRT Xpipe. As ROBWAH said the drone went away.

So...which is the preferred set-up:

A. Route 66 Standard / X-Pipe with Resonators

B. Route 66 Evolution / X-Pipe with Resonators

Your getting things a little mixed up. You can configure a system 3 ways.

1) Route 66 catback and stock hpipe.
2) Route 66 catback and B&B (or anyone's) xpipe
3) Route 66 catback and B&B PRT xpipe (resonator system). This is what the evolution system is.

I have run set up #2 (too much 1500 to 2000rpm drone in my opinion) and am now running set up #3 (much quieter and now liveable in the 1500 to 2000 rpm range). I did not try set up #1 because I was told it would have even more drone.

I have no ties to B&B except I like to looks of the oval tips and the deeper sound. I had them on my 99 also. As far as what the preferred set up is, well that's up to you.
