Report from museum delivery
After getting into Nashville around 8:30 pm (I was warned that the rental car booths shut down at 10) on Wednesday the 16th, I drove to BG in a rain storm, all the while thinking about how bad it was going to suck driving 500 miles to Charlotte on wet roads. Pulling into the Super8, however, the rain stopped and didn't re-start until my new baby was safely tucked away in my garage at home!
I highly recommend the Super8. It was quite nice, and couldn't be more ideally situated, between the museum and the factory. Since I was going to stay a second night (great decision), I had worried needlessly about leaving my brand new Vette in the parking lot of a motel. I asked for a ground-level room and was able to park right outside my window. I admit I got up a couple of times that night to peek at the car, reminiscent of the first night at home after my daughter was born.
I arrived early at the museum (naturally) and took a few pics of the signs in the parking lot admonishing new owners against burnouts while leaving. As I walked in the front door, my excitement level was raised a bit by seeing my name on a big flat-screen monitor, welcoming me personally to the museum. Those guys go out of their way to make buyers feel special.
My guide, Al, was waiting for me (even though I was still 15 minutes early for my appointment) and took me first thing to see and sit in my car. After days of looking at it on the webcam, this was pretty intense. We did some paperwork, then proceeded to drive to the factory.
The factory tour was an amazing experience which I will never forget. Al let me take as much time as I wanted at the various stations, and patiently answered all my questions. I accepted the offer to start a car at the end of the line, and was awarded a birth certificate with my name on it for that particular car.
By the time we got to the museum tour, I was itching to get back to my car, so I sort of hurried that part. The cars in the museum are spectacular, but I could hear that CRM Coupe in delivery 1 calling my name!
The personalized briefing on my car took about an hour or so. It was quite thorough, but now I wanted to drive! After the requisite pics at the painted wall at the entrance to the factory (complete with my name on the marquee) I headed out.
Here's the bottom line: I'm not new to Corvettes (this is my seventh). I expected it to be better than my last, but it is so much better it's hard to describe. This car is simply awesome. If you're on the fence about NPP, get it. The sound gives me chills, and I haven't even installed my M2W yet! I love this car, and it's by far the most fun to drive of anything I've ever experienced.
Museum delivery is worth every penny.

Congrats! I did the same thing last month at NCM, even stayed at the Super 8. Glad you avoided the rain, that would have been a downer. The car, and the NCM deliv. experience are a tremendous amount of fun and excitement!

Great write up and thanks for the tip on the Super 8 Motel. I will be travelling there in February for my museum "experience" and am now looking forward to it more than ever. Congratulations on your new Corvette. BTW, I also ordered the NPP exhaust!

Hey Jerre, A Big “HELLO” from Forest Hill, Maryland.
Congratulations on your beautiful new Corvette! Now drive America’s only “Exotic Muscle Sports Car Icon”, enjoy the fun, thrills and excitement. Feel the Vette V-8 power as often as possible, laugh and sing …I do, and I have the ”Corvette Smile” all the time. There is never enough "Vette V-8 power" driving time. I wish you many miles of “Corvette Smiles” with your stunning new ride.

Nice writeup. The museum delivery program is such a great side benefit to purchasing a new Corvette. Sounds like you enjoyed it as much as I did earlier this year. And yes, the new C6's are awesome!
Congratulations on your new ride...
