Who's attended the Black Hills Classic?
Three of us (couples) are planning to go to the Black Hills Corvette Classic in July. I am interested in hearing from those that have attended in the past. What in particular did you enjoy about it? Would you go again?

Very cool run.....6 or 700 cars. Have not been there in awhile but not much has changed I don't believe. They have a large caravan that leaves Sioux Falls on Thursday and a whole bunch of Corvettes head across the State on I90 and of course everyone goes the posted limit......
The Spearfish area is one of my favorite places in the Hills. Good place to base out of. Tons of stuff to do and see and the roads thru the Hills are a hoot to drive in a Corvette..... Hell I think I will go up this year and enjoy.......

Yes they do. I went to the Spearfish portion last year and had a blast. There is actually too much scheduled to do it all, so look at the schedule of events and pick out what you want to do and register. Get your lodging reservations now. My 1978 won 1st place in the People's Choice C3 category, so you know I enjoyed it. Great cruising scenery everywhere you go.

I’ve been 5 years in a row. Lots of scenery, tons of vettes. Drag races and auto cross for vettes only. Spearfish Canyon cruise (must go) plus other towns ti visit, Deadwood, Hill City, Custer National Park, Iron Mountain Road (better than tail of the Dragon), Devils Tower, Mt. Rushmore. I’m staying at corvette headquarters but they were full 2 weeks after I called (Feb) I have a 2013 427 vette with a N. Dakota license plate that says SALTLIF (salt life) I’m originally from Florida. Leave me a note where ya’ll want to meet up. O yea, my vette is red, of course.
Get registered now and get a room they go quick. I have only been in the caravan once frm Sioux falls, it was a blast. Legal speed limit is 80mph, of course in vette lingo thats 90-100. Leapfrog seems to be the game of choice on the road with very little traffic to worry about. Hope to see ya’ll there…… Your better off planning on the spearfish portion of the rally, its the epi center of the rally

Thanks for all the responses. We are going this year for the first time. We made our lodging reservations back in February. It certainly sounds like a great time and we are really excited about going. We are going to travel up to SD through Nebraska and will hit I-90 at Murdo. I hope the weather is nice!

Don't forget Nettles Hywy, and get a US Parks Pass before you go. If you have it and are old enough, getting into the federal parks are free.
July is the hottest month in SD and sometimes it can get real real hot.
The roads are very nice and the speed limits are high.
I plan on going back sometime, but not in July and stay at Deadwood. Deadwood is a more of a tourist trap.....lots of things to do and see.

Needles highway is in Custer State Park so a US Park (Federal) pass is no good.
Also Deadwood has all you can eat snow crab legs and prime rib for like $25 every Fri-Sat at the Silverado!

You don't need pass or money to drive Needles highway. I didn't mean to imply that the pass would work there. Just that it's a nice thing to have if you travel and like to go to different parks. It's a free pass into the feds stuff, but state stuff....you will pay.

The section of Needles Highway I drove was in Custer State Park, so I had to pay the admission.

I am going to try to make it but I have business meetings in Wisconsin that week and then fly home to jump in the car and head up to South Dakota could be rough out of Denver. If all comes together well I will be there.
