WalMart/Sam's Club Gasoline
Does anybody out there know which brand of gasoline this company uses? They have two different prices one for Sam's Club members and the other for non-members-Walmart customers. Just curuious

they claim Murphey USA. Around here most stations get their gas from the same place, you can actually watch the truck go from station to station. Around here most use Gulf Coast.

I use it in my 92 corvette all the time with no problems. Like it was said, most stations use the same supplier anyways. plus they're one of the few stations around here that carries 92 octane. Most only carry 91.

They are like most unbranded sites, they use whoever has the cheapest atm. It may be quality, or it may be really bad. I personally never use unbranded fuel. Often unbranded also has ethanol.

Sam's is all I've used, so I don't know if it's bad or not.

We used Sam's Club and Costco gas exclusively in my wife's "03 Trailblzer for a year.... (80K miles)
Last fall it started having serious hesitation problems.
We changed the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, PCV valve, the hesitation continued...
3 tankful's of Shell V-power with a can of Seafoam in each tank and the hesitation was gone. Since that time we have used only Shell Regular gasoline. We have not had a re-occruence of the hesitation.
We no longer buy cheap gasoline....

They buy whatever is the least expensive on the spot market . . . you have no idea what you're getting or the additive content (if any) . . .
You might use it in a daily driver . . .but not in the Vette !

The only gas I buy is Shell, 93 octane. Definitely helps keep our engines running clean. Don't skimp on the gas, just like the oil, use the good stuff. There is a difference, especially in the additives.

Anyone who researches my threads will quickly learn that I hate ethanol and I will only use 93 octane from a Top Tier supplier as recommended by GM and would never consider Walmart for gas. That said, from the Top Tier site http://www.toptiergas.com/deposit_control.html:
What to do, what to do...
1.3.1.2 Base Fuel. The base fuel shall conform to ASTM D 4814 and shall contain commercial fuel grade ethanol conforming to ASTM D 4806. All gasoline blend stocks used to formulate the base fuel shall be representative of normal U.S. refinery operations and shall be derived from conversion units downstream of distillation. Butanes and pentanes are allowed for vapor pressure adjustment. The use of chemical streams is prohibited. The base fuel shall have the following specific properties after the addition of ethanol:
1. Contain enough denatured ethanol such that the actual ethanol content is no less than 8.0 and no more than 10.0 volume percent....

Kinda like playing Russian Roulette. I don't think the few dollars you save are worth it so I always stick with Chevron fuel for all of our cars.
I guess if you are leasing the car and plan on giving the car back at the end of three years, it might not make that much difference. However, if you plan on keeping the car more than three years, I would stick with a top tier fuel.
